The Dutch Swing College Band "DSCB" is a traditional dixieland band founded on 5 May 1945 by bandleader and clarinettist/saxophonist Peter Schilperoort.

The Early Music Log series on the Fra Bernardo label aims to present milestones in the interpretation of early music. This CD features recordings of acclaimed concert by Il Giardino Armonico and Giovanni Antonini in Vienna in 1999 and is complemented by a special archive treasure from 1934: the arrangement of Handel’s Concerto, HWV335a, for large orchestra with Sir Hamilton Harty and the London Symphony Orchestra.

"Prokofiev: Symphony No. 6," performed by The Cleveland Orchestra under the direction of Franz Welser-Möst, captures the profound and somber reflection of the post-World War II era. Composed between 1944 and 1947, this symphony contrasts the triumph of Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony with a more melancholic and introspective tone. Its three movements transition from a melancholy landscape to a conflicted middle filled with ardor and solace, and finally to an upbeat yet enigmatic finale. Despite initial success, it faced political denunciation, limiting its popularity compared to its predecessor. Recorded live at Mandel Concert Hall in Cleveland in 2023, this album continues The Cleveland Orchestra’s tradition of artistic excellence and innovative programming.

The Epic of Gilgamesh, the oldest written literary text in Middle Eastern/Western cultural history, predates the Hebrew Bible. The epic relates the story of King Gilgamesh, partly divine, partly human, who may have existed historically circa 2800 BC. From immature youth and a belief in his mmortality, he eventually comes to accept the power and reality of Death. There are five movements/scenes: The first, Prologue, echoes the anxious state of the city of Uruk, which is suffering under the despotic rule of the young King Gilgamesh.

Thuluth (arabic for one third) is a Berlin-based acoustic ensemble featuring Magda Mayas on piano and objects, Ute Wassermann on voice and objects, and Raed Yassin on double bass and objects.

For five decades, vocalist-composer Meredith Monk has explored non-verbal vocal sound that lay beneath and beyond language. This exploration has led her to create an art that “sings, dances and meditates on timeless forces”. Voices and instruments have equal weight: sometimes each is heard alone; sometimes they are blended to form a new, mysterious sound; sometimes they are combined to create intricate, layered, yet transparent sonic landscapes.

Julie Lyon is at the top of her game as a jazz singer. MOONFLOWER, follow-up to the critically acclaimed JULIE, features original songs and compositions and is in many ways her first solo album. Though accompanied by her band, the focus is not only on Ms. Lyon’s considerable vocal talents but also on her role as lyricist and songwriter. The seeds of MOONFLOWER were sown when Julie began to write lyrics to some of composer Jack DeSalvo’s music. It became obvious that recording this music would be the vocalist’s next project and music by Julie Lyon along with additional collaborations with Tom Cabrera and Betsy Serafin create a tapestry of sophisticated listening experiences with music touching new jazz, folk and world music but always rooted in Julie’s sense of swing and the blues. The title song "Moonflower" is written by multi-instrumentalist/composer Matt Lavelle.

John Davidson was a vocalist who could sell a lot of albums without the benefit of hit singles. He put several songs on the adult contemporary chart, but never once graced the pop chart despite making some very successful albums…

The band recently released their album, ‘Harbor Song’ consisting of eleven songs that takes you on a journey through multilayered psychedelia in a vein of early Tame Impala. The album was in the making for several years.

This reissue celebrates Roberto Roena y Su Apollo Sound’s first release for Fania Records in 1970. Founded in 1969, “Apollo Sound” was considered one of the best salsa bands in Puerto Rico. Standout tracks include “Tu Loco Loco, y Yo Tranquilo,” “El Escapulario” and the Bobby Capó classic “Soñando con Puerto Rico.”
