In 1957 Timex sponsored a series of TV variety show specials starring Frank Sinatra broadcast on The ABC Television Network. The last in the series taped on 12th of May 1960 in Miami, was perhaps the best of all, featuring Elvis Presley, upon completion of his National Service. Ramin Djawadi and Brandon Campbell have been hired to score the supernatural upcoming horror thriller Slender Man. The film is directed by Sylvain White (The Losers, Stomp the Yard) and stars Joey King, Julia Goldani-Telles, Jaz Sinclair, Annalise Basso and Javier Botet. The movie is based on based on the myth created by Eric Knudsen (aka Victor Surge) and revolves around a tall, thin figure with unnaturally long arms and a featureless face who stalks, abducts and traumatizes people. Brad Fischer (Shutter Island, Zodiac), James Vanderbilt (Truth, White House Down), William Sherak (Darkness Falls, The Messengers), Robyn Meisinger (First Snow) and Sarah Snow are producing the Screen Gems, Mythology Entertainment, Madhouse Entertainment and It Is No Dream Entertainment production. Slender Man is set to be released in theaters nationwide on May 18, 2018 by Sony Pictures.

Expectations run high for any disc of Charles Mackerras conducting Dvořák, and this one doesn't disappoint. He is at the top of his game here, and with an orchestra and soloist to match. No doubt this is among the first of many Mackerras reissues that will be appearing over the coming years. If they are all to this standard, then we are in for a real treat.

When these suites by Louis Couperin were first issued their release coincided with Davitt Moroney's all-embracing survey for Harmonia Mundi, now on four CDs (4/90), of the composer's complete solo harpsichord music. Prior to that, the field belonged mainly to Gustav Leonhardt and Laurence Boulay (Harmonia Mundi and Erato, respectively—both nla). More recently, the French harpsichordist Blandine Verlet has entered the lists with two discs on Astree (see review above) with the promise, indeed assurance of more to come.
