This album of sophisticated 1980s jazz-funk from one of the master practitioners of the genre features Stanley Turrentine accompanied by a small group on a selection of mostly uptempo pieces, including the disco-influenced “Paradise” and the ballad “I Knew It Couldn’t Happen,” the latter with vocals by the well-known singer and actress Irene Cara.

Guitarist and composer Ahmad Mansour has been active on the New York and European music scenes for over two decades, performing and recording with established players such as Marc Copland, John Taylor, George Mraz or Marc Johnson and countless younger talents, with a dozen CD releases as leader, spanning the gamut of modern guitar and compositional styles.

This CD reissue (which adds additional material to the original LP program) is much more successful than one might have expected. Jimi Hendrix was scheduled to record with Gil Evans' Orchestra but died before the session could take place.

The Jazz Club series is an attractive addition to the Verve catalogue. With it's modern design and popular choice of repertoire, the Jazz Club is not only opened for Jazz fans, but for everyone that loves good music.

Gate 6 is a relatively new five-member project founded by wellknown prolific musicians of the progressive rock scene in the Netherlands. They all have collaborations for diverse bands in the back, stylistically representing a range from neo to prog metal. Just to name Jacques Suurmond (bass) and Tony De Wolde (guitar) who both once played for Marathon, as well as drummer Martin Kuipers borrowed from The Barstool Philosophers.
While featuring some metal touches 'God Machines' is an exceptional heavy prog album based on a rather unique outfit. Fans of bands such as Karnivool, Enchant, Sieges Even, Portal are in good hands here…

With this album called "Moebius Tunnel" Neo-Krautrock duo Sounds Of New Soma has expanded its sound cosmos creatively. In addition to the tried and tested method of spontaneous improvisation also the structured approach has impacted on new sounds positively to the overall picture. Ambient and psychedelic elements still play an important role and melt in with the concept as well as spacey drums. As for all Sounds Of New Soma tracks, Eroc is once again responsible for mastering. The cover was contributed by internationally recognized artist Mark Reiser who has worked, among others, for Hawkwind and Nik Turner.

This two-fer from Collectables features a pair of out of print album's by the Blues Image, Blues Image and Red, White and Blues Image; both were originally issued on Atco in 1969 and 1970. For Vivaldi and other Baroque composers, it has often been difficult to assign works accurately to chronological periods, but this has become easier in Vivaldi's case as works are discovered and manuscripts analyzed. The Italian historical-performance group Modo Antiquo under Federico Maria Sardelli therefore deserves kudos for this collection of works by the young Vivaldi, especially inasmuch as one of the works here, the Sonata in G major for violin, cello, and continuo, RV 820, has been authenticated and dated by the conductor. That work was copied out shortly after 1700 and thus seems to have been a product of Vivaldi's early twenties and to have been his earliest surviving chamber work.
