When did you last revel in the glory of a trombone-led jazz band that plays rock & roll? Here's one that'll bring a smile to your face. Josh Roseman has the quirky charisma necessary to turn the often sedate trombone into a leading instrument, and his band's first album showcases his skill and his rather bent sense of humor. Full of covers (and a few originals), Cherry is a cheery journey through funk, soul, jazz, and rock. The band's off-tempo take on Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" is worth a listen, as is their Morphine-like rendition of Nirvana's "Smell's Like Teen Spirit." But these tunes feel like tossed-off jokes meant to attract attention and they get tiresome quickly.

Recorded live at The Stone in New York City on a sweltering July evening in 2009, The Veil is the debut of BB&C (also known as The Sons of Champignon), an acronym for alto saxophonist Tim Berne, drummer Jim Black and guitarist Nels Cline—veteran improvisers with a long history of collaboration. Cline first recorded with Berne in the early '80s, while Black was a member of Berne's revered '90s era Bloodcount quartet. Unfolding as a single uninterrupted long-form improvisation and encore, the date's indexing points and song-titles were created after the fact for convenience. Despite having no predetermined agenda or rehearsal, the set flows as seamlessly as if it were pre-composed—such is the intuitive accord of these three veterans.

2008 live release from two Jazz legends: pianist Bebo Valdes and bassist Javier Colina. Recorded at the Village Vanguard in New York, this set finds the pair playing a fusion of Latin, Caribbean and American Jazz, which has, over the years, become the unique sound of Cuban Jazz. Apart from self-penned Valdes tunes, the pair also tackle Bill Evans' 'Waltz For Debby', amongst other covers, adding their own indelible stamp to the proceedings. References to lilies and roses and many other flowers abound in both secular and sacred texts that were set to music from across European medieval repertoire from the 12th to the early 15th century. These two flowers in particular provided a rich symbolism: lilies represented purity and brightness in a sacred context. Roses are often used to represent love, secular or sacred. Both flowers were strongly associated with the Virgin Mary – the lily particularly is associated with the annunciation, the biblical scene in which the Angel Gabriel appears to Mary to announce that she will give birth. Countless painting and altarpieces show Gabriel presenting a lily to Mary.

In 2003, the venerable Afro-Cuban pianist Ramon "Bebo" Valdés teamed with the modern Spanish flamenco singer Diego "El Cigala" Salazar for an incredible fusion of pan-Latin styles on their Grammy Award-winning album LÁGRIMAS NEGRAS. Directed by Spanish director Fernando Trueba (BELLE EPOQUE, CALLE 54), BLANCO Y NEGRO EN VIVO presents a visual companion to LÁGRIMAS NEGRAS with a 19-song live performance recorded in Mallorca in June 2003, as well as a behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of the album.

Barbara Mason moved to United Sound Detroit to cut ‘Loves the thing’ album in 1975 her last for the Buddah label. It was produced by Jimmy Bishop and Don Davis and includes the classic answer song to Shirley Brown’s ‘Woman to woman’ in ‘From his woman to you’. ‘Shackin Up’ is another great love triangle song, as is the ballad ‘So He’s Yours Now’. ‘Your Sweet love’ has a southern soul feel, and ‘(There’s) One man Between Us’ is an upbeat 70’s Detroit dancer. Great sounding unreleased studio demos. Funkier, wilder and more relaxed than the released high studio gloss versions these well-known tracks are great fun and totally recommended to all who appreciate Daevid's late '80's/early '90's solo and non Gong band output. This is the most hi-fi Obscura release so far. In February 1990 Daevid returned to Melbourne from the UK where this spontaneous demo session took place at Harry Williamson's Spring Studio in St. Kilda. The all electric treatment given here by Daevid and Harry with Kangaroo Moon violinist Eliet Mackerell and the Mothergong rhythm section throws a new light on the songs. One More from the Road (Styled as "One More For From The Road") is a live album by Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. It marked the band's first live album, and the only live album from the "classic" era of the band (1970–1977) prior to the plane crash that killed lead singer/songwriter Ronnie Van Zant, as well as band members Steve Gaines and Cassie Gaines. The album was released in September 1976. It was certified Gold on 10/26/1976, Platinum on 12/30/1976 and 3x Platinum on 7/21/1987 by the RIAA. The original 14 tracks include a cover of Jimmie Rodgers' "T for Texas" and an 13:30 version of "Free Bird". The first CD release (1986) was a single disc missing two tracks. T For Texas and Travellin' Man. The second CD release (1996) was a two disc set with all 14 songs plus 3 Bonus Tracks. Sweet Home Alabama, Gimme Back My Bullets and Simple Man. The two disc set put the tracks in order of the appearance of the original concert.
