DGM & Panegyric proudly present… One of the highlights of the King Crimson 50th anniversary CD/Blu-Ray editions to date has been King Crimson producer David Singleton’s series of Elemental Mixes as he utilises the full spectrum of available studio sessions for each album to produce very different takes on the familiar songs and pieces. This is especially true of Lizard where the ambition of the material, the much-expanded line-up of musicians - the background of many of them in the jazz rather than the rock world - and the number of takes recorded, resulted in a large amount of material to be considered for this album. There was enough material for David to be able to mix and produce alternate takes for every piece from the original album. As well as giving great insight into the recordings, the nature of Elemental Mixes allows for different takes from individual musicians to be included – sometimes alongside one another - in a way that would never be considered in the formulation of the original album.

'Gold Medal' (CD2, 2004) reached #76 on the Billboard 200, continuing the commercial hard rock sound of 'Spend The Night', featuring the singles 'Fall Behind Me' and 'I Don't Want to Know (If You Don't Want Me)'. Stylus reckoned that The Donnas were, "incapable of playing in anything but the key of badass", while Rolling Stone reckoned that the band's "wailing on solos that would make AC/DC's Angus Young proud". CD3 completes all of the recordings released by the quartet between 2002 and 2005 and adds raucous live sets recorded in Boston in 2003 plus three tracks recorded for XFM, along with the single B-sides 'Hyperactive', 'Rock 'n' Roll Machine', 'Mama's Boy', 'Play My Game' and 'Done With You', plus acoustic versions of 'Fall Behind Me' and 'Don't Break Me Down'. There's also a cover of Billy Idol's 'Dancing With Myself' along with 'Please Don't Tease' which is taken from the film New York Minute.

Oslo Kammerakademi performs chamber music for winds based on the historical Harmoniemusik instrumentation. Founded in 2009 by artistic director David Friedemann Strunck, the ensemble has established itself as a leader in Europe, with critically acclaimed CD recordings. Oslo Kammerakademi utilises historical brass instruments in repertoire from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods. Since it was founded, Oslo Kammerakademi's ambition has been to embrace the full range of literature for the Harmonie ensemble - from its origin in Vienna in the 1780s to the music of our own time. Canadian ensemble Notturna offers a charming instrumental version of the opera L'Amant jaloux (the jealous lover) by André-Ernest-Modeste Grétry (1741-1813). This anonymous arrangement for flute, oboe, violin, viola, and bass was found in the Biblioteca Estense di Modena. Though undated, it was likely transcribed in 1778, the year Grétry composed the opera. Founded in 2006 and directed by oboist Christopher Palameta, Notturna is a chamber collective whose spirited and sensitive playing (Early Music America) draws on the transparency and expressiveness of early wind instruments to paint fresh pictures of an unexplored historical repertoire.

The Finnish-American composer Alex Freeman has been described as being ‘as comfortable in the realm of the pop ballad as in that of the concert hall’ and yet his songs ‘are imbued with the craftsmanship and care one would expect of a composer of his formidable academic training, just as his concert works carry the emotional immediacy of popular music.’ Himself a choral singer, Alex Freeman has written a number of works for choir: music that aims to be sonorous and melodic, but is carefully crafted to avoid the clichés that can burden conventional tonality.

Working in 17th-century Venice soon after the worlds first public opera houses opened there, composer Francesco Cavalli had no tradition to follow. He gave his fertile imagination free rein, tinkering with the brand-new art form to create the lively Venetian style of opera, with its melodious arias, sprightly dance rhythms, free-wheeling mythological or historical plots and generous dollops of comedy. Like most of Cavallis operas, Ilpermestra wasnt performed between the late 17th century and recent years. Ilpermestra was written on the occasion of the birth of King Philip IV of Spains first son in 1658. It was one of the most magnificent operas to have ever been staged. This is the world premiere recording of the opera, made after a live stage performance in Utrecht in 2006.
