This self-titled long play from the Canadian hard rock band Amish is another one of those super "one and done" recordings from back in the day. Their style also includes lots of progressive elements and also some minor psychedelic influences can be heard here and there. Swirling Hammond from Ron Baumtog and blistering guitar from Jack Byrne are the standouts here. Obviously influenced by Deep Purple, this platter rocks from start to end.

With Band Of Brothers, Warmen asserts its Children of Bodom heritage and pushes back the boundaries of melodic death. Written collaboratively, this intense album combines cutting-edge riffs, powerful vocals and a new chemistry between the band members. Recorded at the legendary Finnvox Studios, it benefits from Mikko Karmila's mix and Mika Jussila's mastering, for a typically massive Finnish sound. The eponymous track, already acclaimed live, promises to be central to the upcoming tour. Stronger, more united, more determined: Warmen is back!

When Joanna Loved Me (1974). A compelling little record from guitarist Dom Minasi - a player we only know from these few Blue Note albums cut right toward's the label's initial run - sweet albums that might have pushed Dom further, had they gotten better exposure! Minasi's a pretty talented guitarist - with a style that's somewhere between the quirkiness of Sonny Greenwich, and the smooth sound of Earl Klugh - and while the style here might show some of the elements of Klugh's initial work for Blue Note, the overall presentation is a lot more stripped down - never too smooth, and with plenty of focus on the jazz elements in Dom's music…

Arvo Pärt is one of those composers in the world, whose creative output has significantly changed the way we understand the nature of music. In 1976, he created a unique musical language called tintinnabuli, that has reached a vast audience of various listeners and that has defined his work right up to today. There is no compositional school that follows Pärt, nor does he teach, nevertheless, a large part of the contemporary music has been influenced by his tintinnabuli compositions.

The sweet pop/rock/soul sound of San Francisco's Huey Lewis & The News has sadly gone silent in recent years, thanks to its one-of-a-kind frontman's battle with Ménière's disease, which causes intermittent hearing loss. But a surprise new reissue campaign courtesy of Universal Music Group's Japanese division promises the most comprehensive look at the band's blockbuster catalogue of the '80s and early '90s.

Originally recorded in 1968 but never released until a few years ago, this is truly a lost pearl among collectors of very early british progressive rock bands. Among all of those obscure recordings from the 60's who gets reissued decades later, this is one of the best and most progressive in the most true sense of the word.
Unlike many such relics to see the light of day in the CD age, it's not a run-of-the-mill psychedelic outing in terms of either style or quality. With the religious tones of both the music and lyrics (some of which are sung in Latin), it's a little like hearing the Electric Prunes' late-'60s pseudo-religious concept LPs played by a British band whose members were playing it straight, rather than because some producers and arrangers foisted a gimmick upon them.
