Ryoko (Etsuko Hara) leaves the chaos of her dorm for the peace and quiet of her own place because she wants to keep her relationship with a doctor at Murata Hospital a secret. When the doctor’s wife learns of the affair, poor Ryoko gets caught in a web of jilted lovers, frisky lesbians, slapstick sexual assault and embarrassing incidents with household appliances. On an asteroid, the Terran Federation's Fort Casey is on top of a bug hive. The Starship Alesia begins to deploy its troops to seize and control the hanger and rescue any survivors. Sir Adrian Boult recorded this work no less than 5 times,this is the second,coming between the 1945 with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the 1956 with the Vienna state Opera Orchestra. Overall it seems to work wonderfully well. The balance feels just right: where quite a few recordings give the impression that there are 7 stand-alone mini tone poems, here, there seems a very organic connection from first movement to last.

In Las Vegas, the regenerated ex-con Jack Bruno works as taxi driver. During an UFO Convention at Planet Hollywood, the skeptical Jack picks up Dr. Alex Friedman, who will present a scientific lecture in the event. Then he is pressed by two henchmen of his former boss, the criminal Wolff, that wants to talk to him, but Jack does not want to return to the crime life. Jack fights and gets rid of them; out of the blue, he finds two teenagers on the backseat of his cab.
