Jungle adventures of buffed, blonde Jana in a skimpy thong bikini with quarter-cover loin flaps front and back. What more could you ask for? Apparently nothing else since this five-issue miniseries (6 if you count the introductory issue #0) from Dynamite went to to its "Season 2" (already posted ) without skipping a beat. And with that Season 2 ending expect many more seasons to come.

If you think is just another zombie story that is just a little too reminiscent of Marvel's tongue-in-cheek Marvel Zombies, then perhaps you might find the Comic Book Resources interview with Vince Gonzales--together with Marc Guggenheim, co-writers of this five-issue mini-series from Dynamite Entertainment--interesting. You know which keywords to Google. As for the series itself, suffice it to say that it revolves around a world of over 40 superpowered heroes and villains who succumb to a flesh-eating plague of the undead. Great artwork by Mel Rubi. Issue #5 was earlier announced to be released July 8, 2009 but it now seems to have been moved to July 29, 2009.

Graphic Novels from the TV Series 'Heroes'

is a four-part comic book fictionalization of the life and times of H.P. Lovecraft (just Google him up, Dudes) by Image Comics. It blends a touch of reality with fantastical fiction, and puts the iconic author himself as the main character living in a world of nightmare. The story centers on Lovecraft and his encounter with an ancient book of unspeakable lore (can you guess the book's name? I bet you can!) which passes unto him a terrible curse. The introverted author suddenly becomes a great force of unwitting destruction and is also the only one capable of battling the forces that he unleashes to the world.

is an eight-issue miniseries from Devil's Due Publishing set in a future world where the dead have come back to life and the living are forced to coexist with them by law. Given that as premise, Jerry Frissen & Guy Davis turned what would otherwise be another horrible horror gorefest into something totally unexpected and most welcome--a very funny, macabre, terrific horror series that Quentin Tarantino would wish he'd written (not that he ever entertained the idea of writing comic books). It's a fun read and a great diversion from the usual--and it seems now pedestrian--blood and gore of the sub-genre or from the usual hero fare.
