Francisco Gustavo Sánchez Gomez (21 December 1947 – 25 February 2014), known as Paco de Lucía, was a Spanish virtuoso flamenco guitarist, composer and producer. A leading proponent of the new flamenco style, he helped legitimize flamenco among the establishment in Spain, and was one of the first flamenco guitarists to have successfully crossed over into other genres of music such as classical and jazz. Richard Chapman and Eric Clapton, authors of Guitar: Music, History, Players, describe de Lucía as a "titanic figure in the world of flamenco guitar",and Dennis Koster, author of Guitar Atlas, Flamenco, has referred to de Lucía as "one of history's greatest guitarists".

Fusing elements of extreme and classic metal, 70’s prog rock, and poetic, meaningful lyrics, Dark Empire bring forth a tremendously successful amalgam that is both refreshingly unique as well as raw and aggressive. With pristine and powerful production from Jeremy Krull and artwork by Gustavo Sazes (Arch Enemy, Firewind, Morbid Angel) along with fresh creative input and exceptional talent, Dark Empire will surely become the new cross-over favorite for any metal fan.

Formed in 2001 by singer Paul Laine and guitarist Chris Matheson, the two songwriters shared a common desire to find their own sound, uncaring of the current trends. During the search for the rest of the Shugaazer line-up, they enlisted studio session drummer Pat Steward (formally of Bryan Adams & The Odds) to play on their recordings. During this time Pat suggested Roland Churchill to fill the drummer's chair, as Pat continued to tour with the Matthew Goode band. Shane Demers was only a natural choice to complete the band, as each member had played with him in different bands at different times.

"FREE FOREVER" is an absolutely stunning double DVD on the British blues-rock band that reinvented the Rolling Stones' number one hit from 1969, "Honky Tonk Women," for their Top Five ticket to fame, "All Right Now," coming a year after the Stones classic. That half of this group, singer Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke, would form Bad Company and crank out hit after hit, chart action beginning in 1974, makes this compelling collection all the more valuable. There's so much great material on the two discs that one can spend hours exploring the restored archival footage, the new interviews, and perhaps the frosting on the cake – multiple camera images from the Isle of Wight festival performance. …

Snakes and Ladders is the fourth album by Gerry Rafferty. It was released in 1980, following the success of his previous two albums, City to City and Night Owl. The album charted at No. 15 in the UK but only reached No. 61 in the US. The album was released on CD in 1998 [EMI 7 46609-2] but deleted soon after that, and it got reissued on CD on August 2012 as a 2-CD set with "Sleepwalking." Some of the songs are available on compilation albums. One of the songs, "The Garden Of England", was recorded at Beatles producer George Martin's AIR studio in Montserrat. All the songs were original Rafferty compositions, though one – "Johnny's Song" – was a remake of a song which had been previously released by his former band Stealer's Wheel, and another – "Didn't I" – was a remake of a song from Rafferty's 1971 album Can I Have My Money Back.

This is a great smooth jazz, adult contemporary music performance by leader, composer and master percussionist George Jinda who is probably best known as the other half of the potent Grammy-nominated duo "Special EFX" along with guitarist and group originator Chieli Minucci: a duo that used occasional musical guests such as McCoy Tyner to fill out their ranks, although Jinda and Minucci performed alone at times to great acclaim. The music is mostly beautiful themes, infectious latin beats, and deeper solo and group performances than the usual smooth jazz music.

This new live recording pairs profound works by two of the 20th century s greatest composers: Arnold Schoenberg and Dmitri Shostakovich. Writer Phillip Huscher describes Schoenberg s 'Kol Nidre' as a 'stark, strong modernist statement,' set to the prayer said on the eve of Yom Kippur the Day of Atonement. Schoenberg, who had fled Europe in 1934, premiered the work in Los Angeles in 1938, one month before the devastating anti-Jewish pogroms of Kristallnacht took place throughout Nazi-Germany.

Norwegian Hardanger fiddle specialist Nils Okland has a broad range of musical interests, as illustrated by his eclectic discography. His solo album Monograph (ECM, 2011) spotlighted his lyrical, folkloric side; Lysøen—Hommage à Ole Bull (ECM, 2011) with keyboardist Sigbjorn Apeland payed tribute to the Norwegian classical tradition; Lumen Drones (ECM, 2014) found him making trance music with two rock musicians; and the recent Felt Like Old Folk (Smeraldina-Rima, 2016) collaboration with the Belgian duo Linus was almost completely improvised. He was also a member of Thomas Stronen's "Time is a Blind Guide" band, although he does not appear on the recording.
