Just a generation ago, posterity hadn't quite made up its mind about Franco Corelli. Corelli was an operatic oddity, a self-trained singer with movie star looks who largely learned his craft from listening to old records of his predecessors. Corelli made up for what he may have lacked in conventionally trained, "beautiful" tone with an approach that emphasized power and electric energy over all, and gradually rose through the ranks of tenors to become a major star of Italian opera. This EMI collection, The Very Best of Franco Corelli, concentrates its focus on recordings Corelli made in the 1960s during the height of his popularity. As these selections are "bleeding chunks" drawn from recordings of complete operas such as Pagliacci, Rigoletto, Tosca, and others, this is kind of an odd sampling of Corelli.

For what it is, this is the best there is. What it is is two discs of encores recorded in the mid-'40s for American Decca by Jascha Heifetz, the man some would say was the greatest violin virtuoso of the twentieth century. Every performance, every phrase, heck, every note is absolutely stunning, full of the kind of flash and brilliance and artistry you just don't hear anymore. This may sound like an absurd exaggeration, but just try any track at random – they're all consistently amazing. Try the extravagant technique of Benjamin's Jamaican Rumba or the hilarious wit of Rossini's Figaro or the sentimental warmth of Berlin's White Christmas or the ingratiating nostalgia of Foster's Old Folks at Home or the deep blues of Gershwin's Porgy and Bess or the insouciant swing of Weill's Mack the Knife or exquisite sensuality of Chopin's Nocturne.

Paint My Love – Greatest Hits is the first greatest hits album by the Danish soft rock band Michael Learns to Rock. It was released in October 1996 by Medley Records in Asia and South Africa. As of May 1999, the album had sold 3.4 million copies worldwide. The title song, "Paint My Love", is an English version of "Kun med dig" by Danish singers Dorthe Andersen and Martin Loft, which was composed by Jascha Richter. The song won the Danish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 1996, but was one of seven entries voted off in a pre-contest semifinal, which was not televised. "Paint My Love", along with the other new song "Breaking My Heart", was later included on the band's fourth studio album, Nothing to Lose (1997).
