Following their hugely successful cycle of Vaughan Williams’ nine symphonies, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra is led by Andrew Manze in this album of the composer’s most popular shorter orchestral works.

Angel Station is the ninth album released by Manfred Mann's Earth Band, released in 1979. Several line-up changes were made for this album. Ex-Wings drummer Geoff Britton replaced founding drummer Chris Slade and Steve Waller replaced guitarist Dave Flett. Britton left the band soon after due to illness, and was replaced by John Lingwood.

The albums three works, all world-premiere recordings, represent Hyness debut on disc as a classical composer. In Perfectly Voiceless, Philip Glass-style minimalism gives way to a catchy pop melody.

Elephant House Quartet invites the listener for a stroll through the colourful oeuvre of Telemann — himself a gardening enthusiast — presenting a bouquet of chamber musical jewels. Telemann’s Garden ranges from excerpts of solo fantasias for violin, flute and harpsichord to a sonata for viola da gamba and basso continuo, a trio sonata for violin, recorder and basso continuo, a suite for violin, flute and basso continuo, as well as one of the quartets Telemann wrote during his Paris sojourns. These pieces together constitute a fascinating portrait of one of the most prolific and successful composers of the Baroque era.

I should've tried NOVALIS much sooner, "Sommerabend" has became my first dive in to one of Germany's top prog rock bands. The band was smart to sing in their native tongue, avoiding many of the criticisms of other German bands singing in English, such as GROBSCHNITT or ELOY.

East of the Sun, West of the Moon is the fourth studio album by Norwegian new wave band A-ha. It was released on 27 October 1990 by Warner Bros. Records. Named after a Norwegian fairy tale, the album was something of a departure from the band's earlier radio-friendly sound to a darker, moodier tone. It peaked at number one in the band's native Norway and reached top 20 in various European countries and Japan. It was co-produced by Ian Stanley, formerly of the band Tears for Fears.

This first instalment in a new Brahms series from Edward Gardner demonstrates the strength and suppleness of the Bergen String section, and outstanding ensemble playing across the orchestra. Chief Conductor of the Bergen Philharmonic since October 2015, Edward Gardner has led the orchestra on multiple international tours, including performances in Berlin, Munich and Amsterdam and at the BBC Proms and Edinburgh International Festival. Edward was recently appointed Principal Conductor Designate of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, with his tenure commencing in September 2021.

Following on from their universally acclaimed debut album, Music for a Prussian Salon, the period wind ensemble Boxwood & Brass returns to Resonus with the first of two volumes of Beethoven Transformed. In this major new project, the group explores the status of wind music in early-nineteenth century Vienna through original and arranged music by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827) and his contemporaries. In this first album, Beethoven’s Op. 71 Sextet is paired with the Op. 20 Septet in E-flat major, arranged for six-part Harmonie by his prolific pupil, Carl Czerny (1791–1857).

Without a room of doubt the best symphonic rock band from Germany, next come Wallenstein and Grobschnitt. This self title album presents a high musical level, simply equal to "Banished Bridge" and "Sommerabend".

Grobschnitt have always been a dificult band to classify because they have always been, at least until Rockpommel's Land, a borderline symphonic / space rock band. However, in Rockpommel's Land the band incorporated many symphonic prog influences, mainly from Yes, in their music, resulting in a full symphonic masterpiece.

Right from the first Teutonic Wagner-like singing until the end of the album (excluding the Live bonus track), you know you will be in for quite a ride. These guys were extra crazy/special and developed in the late 70's a extensive live show that is one of my great regrets never to have seen.
