„Soul Steps“ is the second album by Berlin and San Diego based band The Everettes, who have been an insider tip in the soul landscape for a few years now. On the one hand, the title alludes to the musical footprints they follow, as their danceable music is rooted in Northern Soul, Stax and Motown and with their three female singers they carry the magic of the 60s girl groups into the present. On the other hand, the songs are also about personal development steps and the paths and decisions one has to take in life with oneself and others.

Hauser describes the project as “a collection of seminal 20th century works for oboe and piano, from an international assortment of composers that spans the globe.” The album features compositions by Pavel Haas, Henri Hauser, Ulysses Kay, Paul Ben-Haim, and Makota Shinohara. Jared Hauser maintains an international stature as a performer, teacher, and recording artist. Appointed to the faculty of the Blair School of Music in 2008, he also serves as principal oboe with the Nashville Opera and Music City Baroque.

Fifth Note is a new signing from the Frontiers label and is another band which is based in the Northeast region of India based in Kohima, the capital state of Nagaland. The group was started in the middle of 2019 evolving from the original foundations of a Christian themed band, though now they draw most of their musical influences from the secular Progressive Metal and classic old school Hard Rock genres of music. While Progressive Music can run the risk of being self-indulgent, Fifth Note manage to offer a sort of primal urge in their music still offering very catchy melodies and a very polished sound.
