Tomato Records tapped Jack Clement to produce this set, but the results of his work are mixed. The best tracks here are the ones in which Clement showed a bit of restraint, while others feature strings, flutes, harpsichords, and other touches that might have been trippy ideas at the time, but sounded embarrassingly dated even a few years later…

UK act The Dreaming Tree was formed sometime after the millenium, but didn't evolve towards a real band project until 2004, when forming duo Chris Buckler and Neil Ablard met Dan Jones on an engineering course. Dan was invited to join the duo's musical escapades, and soon after Jim Peterson and Steve Barratt agreed to take part in this endeavour as well. With a complete line-up in place a self-titled EP was recorded and released in 2004. Following this the band concentrated on live performances, taking on as many live possibilities as possible. Be it as a whole band, parts of the band performing acoustic sets or whatever was needed for the occasion…

Known primarily as an actor, comedian, and quiz show host, Alexander Armstrong is actually a trained baritone and studied music at Trinity College, Cambridge on a scholarship. This is his debut release and marks a return to his first love of music after more than a decade in television. The project began life as a collection of English pastoral songs, but has since grown to include songs from Northern Ireland ("Londonderry Air") and even further afield (Gershwin's "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess).

Adam Brand & The Outlaws is an Australian Country all-star collective fronted by the acclaimed Adam Brand. It’s a band venture also featuring the talents of Drew McAlister, Travis Collins, Matt Cornell and Mike Carr. The 5 piece came together to have a good time, releasing Adam Brand & The Outlaws, a 14 track, party playlist exploding with covers from some of the best, and it’s enough to get any outlaw in a groove. The debut release is a fourteen-tracker, exploding with covers of classic rock favourites from across the years from Cold Chisel’s ‘Working Class Man’, to Queen’s ‘Fat Bottom Girls’ and Jet’s smash hit ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl’. It’s all killer, no filler. The album was recorded in Sydney’s Rancom Street Studios, produced by Adam Brand and engineered and mixed by Ted Howard. Lead single is the band’s rock’n’roll anthem ‘Good Year For The Outlaw’.

Folklorist Bruce Jackson was among the last to record work songs. In 1964 he visited Ramsey State Farm in Rosharon, Texas, where he met Johnnie B. Smith, prisoner #130196. A native of Hearne, Texas, Smitty was 46 years old and on his fourth prison term. In his younger days, Smitty toted lead hoe in a flat-weeding gang and led the work songs. It’s hard to overstate the importance of a good song leader in the penitentiary setting one needed to be rhythmically, lyrically, and physically reliable, to maintain those songs over interminable hours of hard labor under an unforgiving south-central Texas sun.

Formed in the small Northern Swedish town of Norsjö in late 2003 by vocalist David Nilsson and bassist Viktor Eriksson. With the lineup complete, the band soon began writing and performing around their native Sweden. Writing on the album to follow the debut was begun immediately after returning from the tour. But the recording was delayed due to line-up changes when Rickard Lundmark and Petter Nilsson left the band to pursue other interest after having recorded the song for "The Deathkult EP", a split EP along with German death metal band, REVEL IN FLESH, released though Joe Black Records. The band was later joined by ex-ARMAGEDDA drummer, Roger Markström, and Markus continued as the sole guitarist and the recording process for the next album started. The new album "Where Dead Dreams Dwell" is to be released in May though Cyclone Empire, the new label home of FERAL since early 2015.

This collection of talented/ unemployable friends and acquaintances record instrumental cinematic soundtracks and psychedelic experimental music together under the name Applesauce Tears. A move to Atlanta, Ga. brought a certain amount of clarity as the group took shape and began producing their brand of ambient free-noise, improv-experimental, and thrift store shoegaze all under the direction of guitarist Craig Bennett. Some have dared (often behind closed doors) to mention Applesauce Tears in the same breath (or gasp) as Piero Piccioni, Ennio Morricone, Brian Eno, Boards Of Canada, Burt Bacharach, Isaac Hayes, Roxy Music, Todd Rundgren and Pink Floyd.

Live!! is the 1996 EP by Japanese duo MC Hellshit & DJ Carhouse. The MC of the group is Eye Yamatsuka of Boredoms, the DJ of the group is Otomo Yoshihide. Eye grunts and screams while Otomo becomes a DJ in the noisiest sense. This is the second of two EP's the two did together, both share the same title but are indicated with the amount of exclamation points. This one has two exclamation points so it is the second and final edition.

A BOY FROM TUPELO: THE COMPLETE 1953-55 RECORDINGS includes for the first time in one collection every known Elvis Presley SUN master and outtake, plus two private records Elvis paid for with his own money, as well as thrilling radio and concert performances from the period. This 3 CD package features 10 previously-unreleased cuts. The accompanying book is, in essence, a fully-illustrated travelogue. It thoughtfully details the birth of Elvis' career through facts, anecdotes, documentation, many rare photos, and a succinct narrative. Independence Day 1954 is when this uniquely American saga begins, less than 24 hours before his first professional recording session, and it ends in December 1955, when the rights to Elvis' SUN tapes officially expire and the singer leaves Sam Phillips to record for RCA.

The Riverdales follow up last year's "Invasion USA" with "Tarantula", 30 minutes of their heaviest yet catchiest songs to date! Initially meant to be part of "Invasion USA", these tunes stood out on their own enough to be their own best. A good old fashioned American Power Pop…from an America that doesn't exist anymore. Very underrated album.

Chicago's Methadones got our attention with their last proper album, "Not Economically Viable", which came out on Thick Records in 2004. It was their breakthrough, and anyone who overlooked that LP missed out on the best pop punk record of 2004. We then hooked up to release a hilarious party album ("21st Century Power Pop Riot") that featured The Methadones with a number of guest vocalists covering Cheap Trick, Costello, and more. Now it's back to business, and the Methadones have a new batch of originals that pick up where they left off with the great "Not Economically Viable".

Image-wise, the Cult still weren't entirely there yet, as the band photos show. Ian Astbury's bandana is more dated than anything else. But it's Billy Duffy's look – a Duran Duran/Spandau Ballet wannabe, down to the haircut and suit – which is terribly amusing in context. Musically, though, on their full-length debut, the Cult were pretty much on their way. Duffy's dramatic, spaghetti Western-tinged, dark psychedelic guitar and Astbury's passionate semi-wailing set the tone from the start and throughout, while the Jamie Stewart/Nigel Preston rhythm section keeps the tribal/goth feeling running equally high.

Where Have You Been All My Life? is a collection of songs that distills five years and three albums of Villagers’ songwriting into one flowing narrative.
Recorded in one day at London’s RAK Studio with Richard Woodcraft (Radiohead, The Last Shadow Puppets) and Villagers live engineer Ber Quinn, the album is a re-imagining of older material seamlessly woven with present glories from Villagers’ most recent studio album, Darling Arithmetic.
