The overall impression is of an ambience in a groove setting, part of it engaged with atonal bleep or melodious choir, and some secondary spacey progresses with many synths…

There was a time, a long, long time ago, when rock musicians were allowed to be more than just rock musicians. Many forget in fact that the first generation of such artists sprang from backgrounds that took in blues, jazz, classical and even the avant garde. London's early '60s venues rattled to the sounds of trad jazz and chicago blues as well as folk, rock 'n' roll and skiffle. Jack Bruce was most definitely a product of this era.

As of 2006, Anthology was the most extensive Natalie Cole overview available, a two-disc set beginning with her first hit, 1975's "This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)" and ending with the previously unreleased "Sounds of a Happy Love." A handful of useful single-disc compilations have been released throughout the years, but this set offers a nearly perfect representation of her first several albums. Most of her significant singles are included, from the lush uptempo numbers ("Sophisticated Lady," "Mr. Melody") to the many ballads ("Inseparable," "Someone That I Used to Love," "I Can't Say No," "Good Morning Heartache," "I've Got Love on My Mind").

Intense heavy emotional stratocaster self expression, with bluesy voice. Forever may you scream. Recommended if you like Jimi Hendrix & Steely Dan. As an artist it is essential to remember that the most important thing we have is "our voice", or style as they say. Each day our "voices" search for sources of inspiration to help us discover our own identity and creatively translate that identity into the sound of music. With that said, I hope you will be able to find a source of inspiration here…

In every sense, A Day at the Races is an unapologetic sequel to A Night at the Opera, the 1975 breakthrough that established Queen as rock & roll royalty. The band never attempts to hide that the record is a sequel – the two albums boast the same variation on the same cover art, the titles are both taken from old Marx Brothers films and serve as counterpoints to each other…

At first glance, it's a mystery. Why choose 1961 as the cut-off point for a collection spanning the first years of singer/keyboardist Ray Charles' lengthy tenure with ABC-Paramount? Extend that to 1962, and even within the 3-CD confines of The Complete ABC Recordings 1959-1961 it would be possible to include the momentous Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music. This was the album that gave Charles his place in the mainstream of American popular music, to achieve which he had switched to the bigger ABC from Atlantic, where his exalted blend of rhythm & blues and gospel had helped define the sound of emergent soul music.
