JT is the eighth studio album by American singer-songwriter James Taylor, and his first album for Columbia Records. Released in June 1977, two hit singles were spawned from the album: "Handy Man", a Jimmy Jones cover, which peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and also topped the Adult Contemporary chart. At the 1978 Grammy Awards, Taylor won the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for his version of "Handy Man". JT itself was also nominated for Album of the Year, but lost to Rumours by Fleetwood Mac.

Dad Loves His Work is the tenth studio album by James Taylor. It was released in March 1981 and includes the duet with J. D. Souther "Her Town Too", which reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Top 5 of Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart. The album was certified Platinum in the United States.

PLAY! is Henning Ullén's second album under his own name. Together with Mauritz Agnas on double bass and Nils Agnas on drums, the trio offers music with a melancholic undertone, yet infused with a joy of playing. The title of the album, also the title of the second track urges us to play, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and improvisation in its simplest form. On the other hand, the music is rich, oscillating between well-composed, sometimes complex passages and freer sections that leave room for improvisation. The album is infused with a driving high-energy vibe. At times, the boundaries blur between what is composed and what is improvised. In addition to the trio format, the album also includes some shorter solo improvisations where Ullén for the first time on record presents his solo-playing.

A veteran of the great Malian orchestra, the Super Biton de Ségou, Mama Sissoko is an accomplished musician. His music traverses Mandingo, Bambara, Sarakolé, Songhai, Bobo, Peul, Malinke and Bozo traditions, all while flirting with jazz. On stage, Mama Sissoko is a purist who engages with the audience bringing his energy, urgent vocals and truly inspired guitar solos throughout the concert. ‘Live' brings together recordings from a concert given in Paris at La Villette in 1998 and takes us back to a high point in Mama Sissoko's career.

The dandelion is a well-known plant that adorns meadows and fields and goes through several stages of development until finally, thanks to the power of the wind, the ripe seeds are blown across the expanse of the landscape. The Dandelion Quintet has named itself after this flower and figuratively embodies its characteristics. The woodwind quintet combines virtuosity and joy of playing with natural ease to create colourful soundscapes.

On my first trip to the country of Spain and the city of Barcelona I was fortunate to play with pianist Iiannis Obiols, drummer Ramon Prats, and Los Angeles bassist Logan Kane. I had never met Iiannis and Ramon prior, and we only had one short soundcheck/rehearsal at the venue before these performances. I felt so much joy to create with this band, I felt that no idea I played ever went unlistened and that fun and connection was our number one priority. I am so grateful to Jordi and Fresh Sound New Talent for bringing me and Logan to Jamboree and to have the opportunity to connect and communicate with Ramon, Iiannis, and the incredible audience that came and listened. —Nicole McCabe

"The Elements" is a Joe Henderson classic, part of a decade of spirituality and psych-jazz experimentation that saw the eminent saxophone player break free from post-bop instrumentation and repertoire. Playing through Fire, Air, Water and Earth, Henderson leads his all-star ensemble - which included Alice Coltrane, Charlie Haden and Leon "Ndugu" Chancler - in an open-ended setting of heat and mercurial invention.

"Fool For The City" is Foghat's fifth studio album, originally released in 1975. Includes the hit song "Slow Ride". Foghat released an album which has become so ubiquitous on classic rock stations in the U.S. over the years that it's easy to forget that the band actually originated in the U.K. Then again, it's just as possible that you never knew that they started out as an offshoot of Savoy Brown, but if that's the case, then we've just taught you something new, so… you're welcome!

The largest part of the output of the Hamburg-born composer and writer Walter Niemann (1876–1973), a student of both Humperdinck and Reinecke, is piano music: an astonishing 1,000 or so pieces, divided into 189 opus numbers. Most of them are lyrical miniatures in a warm and approachable late-Romantic style, some evoking the music of the past. Occasionally, though, as in Hamburg, a recollection of scenes from his childhood, a degree of mild dissonance indicates his desire to stay true to his memories of growing up in a port city.

The musical language of the New York-based Arnold Rosner (1945–2013) clothes the modal harmony and rhythm of pre-Baroque polyphony in rich Romantic colours, producing a style that is instantly recognisable and immediately appealing. This fourth Toccata Classics album of his orchestral music opens with an engaging and energetic early Scherzo and a Concerto Grosso that has something of the dignified reserve of the Swiss composer Frank Martin, whom Rosner much admired – as the broadly expressive Variations on a Theme by Frank Martin go on to show. Rosner’s A Mylai Elegy, a symphonic poem inspired by a massacre of civilians in Vietnam, has few equals in the orchestral repertoire: it veers from profound sadness to wild, freewheeling anger – protest music at its grandest and most passionate.

After years of dividing his time between New York and Brazil, following his heart and musical instincts, pianist, composer and arranger Cliff Korman has established his home in Rio de Janeiro. As a follow-up to his 2022 release Brasilified (which at present registers 800k streams), Bossas and Ballads (Tiger Turn, 2024) is his first solo recording made in Brasil, and reflects his love for adagios, and his interpretative approach of reharmonization and orchestration on the piano. He offers up an album of solo piano interpretations and improvisations.
