These two players each have a unique perspective on the intersection of straightahead improvisation with its freer forms, and both dwell eagerly at the interface.

Enough Is Enough is a rock album by Billy Squier that was released in 1986. It peaked at #61 on the Billboard 200 chart. William Haislip "Billy" Squier (born May 12, 1950 in Wellesley, Massachusetts) is an American rock musician. Squier had a string of arena rock hits in the 1980s. He is probably best known for the song "The Stroke" on his 1981 album release Don't Say No. Other hits include "In the Dark", "Rock Me Tonite", "Lonely Is the Night", "My Kinda Lover", Everybody Wants You, "All Night Long" and "Emotions in Motion".

Singer/songwriter Joe South (born Joe Souter) began his career as a country musician, performing on an Atlanta radio station and joining Pete Drake's band in 1957. The following year, he recorded a novelty single, "The Purple People Eater Meets the Witch Doctor," and became a session musician in Nashville and at Muscle Shoals. South appeared on records by Marty Robbins, Eddy Arnold, Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Bob Dylan (Blonde on Blonde), and Simon & Garfunkel ("The Sounds of Silence"). During the '60s, South began working on his songwriting, crafting hits for Deep Purple ("Hush") and several for Billy Joe Royal, including "Down in the Boondocks." South began recording his own material in 1968, scoring a hit with the Grammy-winning "Games People Play" (Song of the Year) the following year. While South produced hits like "Don't It Make You Want to Go Home" and "Walk a Mile in My Shoes," Lynn Anderson had a smash country and pop hit in 1971 with South's "(I Never Promised You a) Rose Garden."

Each composer represented in this recording faced a critical moment, a point where the conventional tuning of twelve equally divided notes per octave was no longer adequate. American composers Charles Ives, Harry Partch, John Cage, and international citizen Ivan Wyschnegradsky, each embraced his own distinctive new tuning approach.

Emotions in Motion is a rock album by Billy Squier that was released in 1982. It peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200 album chart. It contains the hit song "Everybody Wants You", which peaked at #32 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, and held at #1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart for 6 weeks. Further Mainstream Rock hits and Hot 100 chartings from the album included "Learn How To Live" and "Emotions In Motion", and "She's A Runner" received rock radio play as well. Squier again wrote all the album's tracks himself. A concept album, Emotions in Motion is one of Billy Squier's most popular albums as well, certified Gold in September 1982 and Platinum album a month later.
