The Laudario di Cortona is a 13th c. manuscript consisting of a sequence of religious songs, simple and naive, after the praise songs, or lauds, of the poet and mystic Francis of Assisi. Lauds were in Italy a popular form of sacred singing quite separate from the Church's liturgy and its musical requirements. The music is a monody, occasionally sustained simply with a continuous note at the bass. It is quite distinct from Gregorian chant and foreshadows the tonalities of 14th and 15th c. Italian music.
Marcel Pérès contributed to working out the musicology of the Laudario as well as to providing some of the music with harmonic parts. The Estaing Salve Regina and the Chant de l'An Mille, or Prose de Montpellier, have been added to the Laudario di Cortona because they also pertained to the medieval mystery plays. The Chant illustrates the distressing approach to the Millenium 1000, with the associated threat that this world would come to an end.
"The Creatures - Maybe One Day", "Rose - Memories", "Wish Key - Last Summer", "Casablanca - The Girl Of Lucifer" , "Rex Abe - I Can Feel It" and more... are the songs which included on the 49th volume of "I Love Disco Diamonds", released in 2008 by Spain's Blanco y Negro label. This is part of one of the most extensive Euro-dance (Italo Disco) series available. Since the series is so extensive, you can bet there's plenty of filler, and that's definitely the case here.
Skillet's eighth studio album, Awake, recorded with Grammy-nominated producer Howard Benson, is set for an August 25, 2009 release. The album will contain 12 tracks, including 'Hero' and 'Monster' which were added to their live set during their Comatose Tour 2009.
This recording includes the composer’s later additions for a planned but never realised second production in 1773
BIS is proud to release a rarely (if ever) recorded fragment of Haydn’s opera Acide which was composed for the celebrations of the wedding of Count Anton Esterházy and Countess Maria Theresia Erdödy, and performed at the Esterházy residence at Eisenstadt on 11th January 1763. The Italian libretto, by G. A. Migliavacca, retells the well-known episode from Ovid’s Metamorphoses in which the nymph Galatea witnesses the death of her lover Acis (Acide) at the hands of the cyclops Polyphemus. Four arias and most of the recitatives from the original 1763 version of Acide have been lost, but complementing the remaining numbers are two arias and a recitative composed by Haydn for a planned second production in 1773.
