The clues are all there. A solo album from Cradle Of Filth's backing singer featuring ex-Cradle men Martin Powell and Dave Pybus. Guess what it's gonna sound like, eh? And you'd only be half right. Yes, 'A Sign Of Sublime' features its fair share of orchestral flourishes, blazing guitars and dynamic time changes, but though it may share many of the 'Filth’s ambitious musical tropes, admirably it surpasses them with its expansive, theatrical splendour. What could have been an easy way for SJD to rest on her laurels is actually the sound of an artist seeking to expand her horizons.

The performances are nothing less than superb: they bring back the memories of the great series of recordings made with Pinnock and Hogwood from the 1970's and 80's, and it can be easily seen why the Academy has been the recipient of much praise and awards. These performers have reached a level of performance that clearly places them amongst the top rankings to be found anywhere. But the recordings, too, made by Harmonia Mundi, are also superb. The sonics are excellent, with large dynamic range, imperceptible noise levels, and fantastic balance of the various pieces.

Noted podium tyrant and sadist Fritz Reiner must have scared the daylights out of the Royal Philharmonic, which plays this music as though their very lives depended on it. This is one of the great Brahms Fourth Symphonies, a performance of eruptive force and barely contained fury. It's been superbly transferred to CD, and anyone who loves this symphony simply has to own this recording. No question about it. –David Hurwitz

James Dillon, born October 29, 1950 in Glasgow, Scotland, is a Scottish composer often regarded as belonging to the New Complexity school. Dillon studied art and design, linguistics, piano, acoustics, Indian rhythm, mathematics and computer music, but is self-taught in composition.
Honors include first prize in the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival in 1978, the Kranichsteiner music prize at Darmstadt in 1982, and three Royal Philharmonic Society composition awards; most recently for his Fourth String Quartet.

Who Do We Think We Are! is the seventh studio album by the English rock band Deep Purple. It was recorded in Rome (in July 1972) and Frankfurt (October 1972) using the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio. It was Deep Purple's last album with the Mark II lineup of the group until Perfect Strangers (1984).
