    This 4CD set is simply superb. I've had the 2CD version for almost 20 years (1997 I found it), and often wondered about the almost mythical third disc from the limited edition, especially the long remix of 887 (which is a ripper!). This set contains not only the full 3 CD set, but some additional tracks on Discs 1 and 3, and also an extended ambient mix of the long track (Kincajou) on the second disc.

This is a nice sampler of familiar items that should satisfy the needs of casual fans.

    Seemingly springing from nowhere at the beginning of 2013, Australian-born, London-residing singer/songwriter Josef Salvat ignited blogs with the release of "This Life." Gravitating toward pop after growing up on a diet of classical music and '80s synth pop, while also self-learning to play piano, Salvat originally penned his first song at the age of 13, inspired by the death of his grandmother. Moving to Barcelona in later life and traveling back and forth to his homeland, Salvat eventually moved to the U.K. to focus on his music career. The release of "This Life" in 2013 was followed by "The Hustler" later that year, which again saw music blogs take note of his bruised and affecting pop style, which recalled the likes of Morrissey and Lana Del Rey. In 2014 Salvat signed to Columbia Records and released his first proper EP, In Your Prime. The EP included a version of "This Life" as well as a cover of Rihanna's "Diamonds," which reached the U.K. Top 30. The single "The Hustler" was reissued in September of that year.

    Blasdead has been around for nearly 10 years, ever since guitarist Shoji Yasuno formed the band in June 1990 in Yokohama-city. The band’s powerful live performances and high-energy concerts quickly established Blasdead in the local metal scene. After changing vocalists in 1991, the band released its first demo tape in July 1992, which was offered free to the band’s loyal following. The second demo tape was released the following March and sold quite a few copies. But even though the band was growing in popularity, the vocalist, drummer and bassist had all quit the band by March 1994, leaving Yasuno to keep Blasdead alive on his own. …

    Secrets, Dobson’s second release under the Deep Sea Diver moniker, sees her continue her run as one of modern indie music’s most interesting guitarists. Her angular playing style visibly bears the influence of Spoon and St. Vincent, two acts known for their gritty yet tidy guitar work, but it also benefits from a winsome angle of attack that is more than capable of drawing the listener in. The abrupt, splattering opening to “Wide Awake”, for instance, is an exercise in mood-building, whilst the satisfying crunch that drives "Notice Me” is particularly adept at papering over the fault lines that typically lie between ballads and rock songs. Much of Deep Sea Diver’s success is also down to the diligence applied by Dobson’s co-stars, namely drummer (cum husband) Peter Mansen, bassist Garrett Gue, and synth programmer Elliot Jackson.
