As an artist, musician and award-winning composer for film and performing arts, Maja Långbacka has long created soundscapes for and with others – now she gathers all her experience in a debut album where her own unique vision finally finds a place on her own terms.

The day belongs to the night. The four songs on side A came about in November 2022 for a winter solstice celebration at Oslo Badstuforening. Our take on this was that the solstice invites reflections on the relationship between night and day. Does the day spring out of the darkness of the preceding night or does the night follow and swallow the light of the day? Is it Saturday Night or Sunday Morning? Are we running from the past or catching up with the future? Moving from A to B, Lidskjalv has existed as a demo since the 90s. Many versions have been made, but this is the first proper recording of the song.

Joik – Gods, Spirits, and Shamans. A journey through mysterious mythological worlds, represented by works from Bo Holten, Jaakko Mäntyjärvi and Jan Sandström. In “Regn og Rusk og Rosenbusk” for solo voices and mixed choir, Bo Holten evokes the transience of earthly existence. Jan Sandström’s work is more tempestuous: his fall-wind joik references the ancient singing traditions of the Sami people; Jaakko Mäntyjärvi’s “Pseudo-Yoik,” on the other hand, takes an ironic look at these traditions. Mäntyjärvi also delves into the world of Finnish Kalevala poetry, in which the image of a young girl has long been considered the embodiment of the Finnish nation.

Nordic Nights invites listeners into the serene soundscape of northern Europe, bringing together artists from across Scandinavia who are redefining contemporary folk music. From compelling Icelandic singer-songwriters Ylja and Linus Orri, to the stunning vocalists Sigrid Moldestad from Norway and Helene Blum from Denmark, to the sophisticated arrangements of instrumental wizards Väsen and Dreamers’ Circus, Nordic Nights offers a vivid panorama of the thriving Nordic folk scene.

The fourth album from Dina Ögon is longer than any they've ever released. If the eponymous debut, the sophomore effort Oas and the latest album Orion all stopped abruptly, the band are now pulling out all the stops and demand our full attention. During a time when the album format has largely been pushed back, privileging peppering of digital single releases of songs without any relation to each other, Dina Ögon are heading in the opposite direction and release a double album.

Anyone who has paid attention to Icelandic music this century knows how Ólöf Arnalds can mesmerise a room with nothing but a small guitar and her distinctive soprano voice. Across five albums in nearly twenty years, her gently plucked guitar, charango, violin and koto have provided the bedrock for vivid narrations straddling the mundane and mythological, sketching out rich emotional territories often concerned with love–equal parts familial, platonic and romantic. The music evokes Joanna Newsom, Nico’s early solo albums and Vashti Bunyan but the deceptively simple arrangements and tightly braided melodies are, ultimately and unmistakably, very much her own.

Maridalen returns with a new project—this time in collaboration with songwriter and storyteller Lars Lillo-Stenberg, known for his distinctive expression and ability to depict everyday life with warmth and uniqueness. The result is the LP "Fransk utgang," recorded in a house in the small French village of Sanxay in March 2025.

DANHEIM is the work of Copenhagen-based musician and producer Reidar Schæfer Olsen, a leading voice in Nordic folk and Viking-inspired music. With over 1 billion streams and music featured in the Vikings TV series, DANHEIM has become a cornerstone of the genre.

Danish singer and composer Anna Kruse has dedicated her work to the Finland-Swedish poet Edith Södergran (1892-1923). Since 2009, Kruse has released five albums based entirely on Södergran's poems, finding in her work an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Despite a short life and a lack of recognition during her lifetime, Södergran is now considered one of Scandinavia's greatest poets. Working with her trio and guest musicians, Kruse gives the poet's profound and vulnerable verses a new musical dimension, revealing their relevance and depth through her compositions and arrangements.

Most people know Else Marie Pade as a pioneer in Danish electronic music. But under gloomy circumstances during the Second World War, Pade also wrote a number of humorous songs in swing and percussion style, which have now been reinterpreted by the duo Dybfølt and singer Kira Martini.

Originally released in 1978 and now re-issued on BBE Music, Ångest is an album written and produced by Swedish musician Roger Ekman as an auteur album which tells of Roger's own travailles with the health system in his homeland of Sweden.

Tusmørke, arguably the most atavistically trollish, acid-drenched musical act ever to come out of the kingdom of Norway makes yet another eternal return, this time to take the fellow traveller on a subterranean expedition to the kingdom of the Fair Folk! Dawn of Oberon is the band’s 12th album, released 12 years after their debut “Underjordisk Tusmørke” (2012). 12-12-12 - That makes this album twice as occult as 666.
