is the name of three distinct, fictional comic book teams in the DC Comics universe, plus an alternate universe's fourth team. Each team has had six members, led by a mysterious figure named Mockingbird whom the characters assume to be one of the six themselves. The current ongoing series, nominated as volume 3 and started in November 2008, features Catman, Deadshot, Scandal, Ragdoll, Bane and an original character named Jeannette. One thing going for this series is the writer herself, Gail Simone, and the chemistry she has with her artists, such as Nicola Scott and Doug Hazelwood in the current issue. They can craft entertaining, oftentimes funny tales out of what would otherwise be a pedestrian plot around their characters, as in issue #10 which starts the book's second extended arc, "Depths."

In a post-apocalyptic future, Nick Masters is a courier that risks life and limb to travel from town to town, delivering packages (whatever they may be). With his kidnapped sister’s life on the line, Nick has 72 hours to get a package through that stretch of road from L.A. to San Francisco known as the “”, for a powerful drug lord. But before leaving, Nick makes a visit to Waylon Biggs, the only man to ever travel the “” and lived to tell about it... Another BOOM! Studios high concept immediately reminiscent of a cross between the and movies. Whether it will work in this 4-part comic book miniseries, only time will tell. Great artwork by Francesco Biagini and Matthew Wilson, though.

    Eng | RS & MU | CBR | Vertigo (DC Comics) | June 3, 2009 | 25 Pages | 18.1 MB

is a ongoing comic book series written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by R. M. Guéra, published monthly by Vertigo Comics. Issue #1 was published on January 3, 2007. Right away the series' style can fairly be described as a fusion of and western elements in a modern setting; concerning organized crime on the (fictional) Prairie Rose Indian Reservation in South Dakota. The artist, R. M. Guéra, uses the colour brown predominantly, with blue and green monotones to emphasize starkness and aiming for a grimy, dirty look. Shadows, the desert and the glaring sun are used to emphasise a sort of stifling atmosphere. Aaron for his part intersperses many allusions to noir prose authors and to the western genre in the names of his characters and in his titles, in a sort of pop homage. How the visuals dovetail with Aaron's narrative approach is never more illustrated than in issue #29, the conclusion to the story arc, "High Lonesome." Graphic and violent.

    Eng | RS & MU | CBR | Marvel Comics | June 3, 2009 | 31 Pages | 25.9 MB

is an ongoing superhero comic book series published by Marvel Comics beginning October 2000. It is a modernized re-imagining of Marvel's long-running Spider-Man comic book franchise as part of its Ultimate Marvel imprint. Ultimate Spider-Man exists alongside other revamped Marvel characters in Ultimate Marvel titles including , , and , and it was the first series to be published in the Ultimate Marvel line. It came about when then publisher Bill Jemas wanted to reinvent the Marvel Universe because he felt that, with over 40 years of back-story, it had become inaccessible to new readers, and he wanted to start with Spider-Man. Issue #133 is the conclusion to the 5-part storyline tie-in, notable for being a "silent" issue; i.e., completely without dialogue or even sound effects. Also includes the February 2009 bookslut.com interview of Ultimate Spider-Man writer Brian Michael Bendis by Paul Morton.

As a countdown to the upcoming premiere of the live action film, toymaker Hasbro and IDW Publishing are weekly releasing the four-part . I'll probably warn, "Spoiler Alert!" for the benefit of those who would prefer to wait for the movie, not that I'm saying this adaptation exactly mirrors the movie as a sort of storyboard or is any indication of what the live action film would be. Part 3 was released June 3, 2009 and the conclusion is due next week. Incidentally ; some may use it as a means to get around the rules by posting the same issue(s) then claiming them to be somehow different, merely through placing emphasis on having 2 covers.

Dark Horse returns to humor-horror-adventure camp with , a three-issue limited series about 3 werewolf friends who leave Earth for the Moon in order to become lunar rulers, so to speak. Unfortunately there are these vampires... well, the title alone made me grin. widely.
