In an attempt to create new stuff SKAARJ mixes classical ambient with elements of industrial, techno and noise in a conceptual album. «The Human and the World» is like a different point of view on a modern globalized mankind and a history of a person inside it trying to find oneself. Using only outdated software and archival samples most of which are made before 1997, analogue synthesizers and 8-track editor SKAARJ produces the true old school sound of the 20th century.
Big Pete Pearson grew up singing and playing guitar and bass in the juke joints of Austin, TX, long before that town became a Mecca for maverick musicians. He sang in church too, but was playing in bars by the time he was nine, including a stint with T.D. Bell & the Cadillacs. He grew up singing alongside his cousin W.C. Clark, today considered the godfather of the Austin blues scene. In his late twenties, Pearson moved to Phoenix, AZ where he is still based….
With his pink hair, sullen, expressionless face, and black clothes, harp blower Jason Ricci looks more art damaged emo kid than bluesman, but looks can be deceiving. Ricci tours relentlessly and has brought plenty of new fans to the genre with an approach that combines spacy, jam band meandering, the almost metallic guitar attack of Shawn Starski, and wide open arrangements that touch on jazz, rock, funk, Arab, punk, and, of course, blues…..
Long-lost early '80's album, not available for nearly 20 years.
The Citations are a new American blues-rock trio from Brentwood, California. The band says: "The Citations are more of a family than a band. Since the first night that we got together in December of 2008 we have become the brothers that we never had. Playing together show after show has become a great time of family, friends and is always fun. “You Can’t Outrun The Blues” is actually a concept album created over a tall glass of a frothy beverage while recording the basic tracks."
From her humble beginnings in Arlington, Virginia, Roberta Flack rose to global stardom with her soulful renditions of The First Time Ever I Saw You Face and Killing Me Softly With His Song, both songs earning her Grammy Record Of The Year awards in 1973 and 1974 respectively. This memorable concert performance recorded with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra at the height of her success in 1975 is testament to her singing talent and features many of her greatest hits.
Collection includes 11 albums and DVD Live In Tokyo by Japanese virtuoso jazz pianist Chihiro Yamanaka.
