Music of Chinary Ung (Volume 3) (2011)
    Contemporary Classical | Bridge | 2011 | 47:42 | EAC (FLAC, cue, log) | Booklet | Various File Hosts | 199 MB
Stephen Solook, percussion & voice/Lynn Vartan, percussion & voice/Thomas Buckner, baritone & percussion/Susan Ung, viola, voice & percussion/Chinary Ung, conductor

Cambodian born composer Chinary Ung (b. 1942) produces complex but very interesting music that is steeped in the sounds, mindset and history of his native land. Ung has been writing this very attention-getting type of music for a long time now and his works have always evoked a very “Eastern” sound but with a clearly emotional impact. ...The entire “Spiral” series is characterized by some playing techniques and timbres that have come to identify much of Ung’s output. These two works, like many of the others, call upon the players in the ensemble to sing and play small percussion instruments in places, throughout the score.

The freedom of jazz and pop are the ease of the two defining elements of Dephazz. On audio Elastique, the ninth album, there are swinging sound collages between chanson ("Men, the trophies kiss," "Not Sally"), Smash-bits ("The Ball Is My Friend") and classic jazz ("Prelude"). Electro-organic is probably the most apt description for the sound of the 16 songs on audio lastique, coined by Pit Baumgartner's distinctive mode of production: Cut & Glue - audio splitter to cut out from their usual musical environment and stick on another site. Through various filters, effects and audio-rotation yields the elastic atmosphere, sometimes close to the radio play.

"Emerson, Lake & Palmer" is the eponymous debut album of British progressive rock band Emerson, Lake & Palmer, released in 1970. The album was intended not as an effort by a unified band, but as a general collaborative recording session, and as such, some of the tracks are essentially solo pieces.
Keith Emerson contributed a series of treatments of classical pieces (such as Bach's French Suite No. 1 in D minor, BWV 812 and Bartok's 'Allegro Barbaro'), Carl Palmer provided a drum solo (called "Tank") and Greg Lake provided two ballads, beginning with the folky, extended work "Take a Pebble".
The album peaked at #18 on the Billboard 200. "Lucky Man" reached #48 on the Billboard Hot 100. On the U.K. charts the album peaked at #4.

Albrecht Mayer may be principal oboist for the prestigious Berlin Philharmonic, but he is also a very active soloist and recitalist not only on the oboe, but also on its relatives, the English horn and the oboe d'amore. Oboists of his caliber are rare, and with his lush tone, smooth control, and engaging expression it's easy to understand why he is a much sought-after musician.

Breton harpist Alan Stivell brought the Breton harp out of the pages of history and into reality. He's also been a groundbreaker, with his innovative interpretations of traditional Celtic music. (…) Zoom is quintessential Stivell. A must-have album. The only drawback to the album is that the liner notes are in French.

The Absence is the third record from Grammy-nominated Melody Gardot. Produced by Heitor Pereira, renowned for his work as a film composer (Despicable Me, It's Complicated, From Prada to Nada) and world-class session guitarist (Sting, Seal, Caetano Veloso), the Brazilian-born, US-based artist shared Melody’s enthusiasm for driving off the beaten path of Western pop, jazz, blues and soul. And he was as adventurous as Melody when it came to inventive sonic ideas. From the deserts of Morocco to the streets of Lisboa, from the tango bars of Buenos Aires to the beaches of Brazil, The Absence captures the essence of each of these exotic locales, while at the same time remaining quintessentially Melody Gardot.

Shortly before his untimely death in April of 2001, punk rock icon Joey Ramone finished what would be his very first (and ultimately last) solo album, Don't Worry About Me, which was issued almost exactly one year later. It's understandable that some will automatically assume that it sounds like a new Ramones album would in the early 21st century, but Don't Worry About Me comes off both reflective and even mature at times…

Step by step goes the time. Cog beats cog is a turn. Be on the bleeding edge of a progress or be a cogwheel if you want. Not possible to catch a moment - you think while it's gone. Hold the pulse for an instant to comprehend. See the wonders with your eyes on the run. Take the bliss - nobody would do this for you. Optimum is maximum at a minimum. Don't take much - take the whole. Don't stay long - better go. Get it fast - this is how.

There is no axe man in this world that can match Traver's intensity. This title shows the world that Pat is still around and doing well. "Ice Queen" is a masterpiece of rock and roll, and the title track serves notice of Traver's kinghood of the axe.
