is the second five-issue limited series entitled “Ultraspacial Dreadnought Vanaheim”, of a comic book written by Warren Ellis with art by Facundo Percio and published by Avatar Press. The first limited series also consisted of five issues. It's a sci-fi thriller with lots of action, lots of new concepts, and a general sense that you’re reading something you’ve never seen before--vintage Ellis at his best. Percio's artwork is no slouch, either, filling the pages with panel after panel of gorgeous, detailed--even intricate--drawings in a distinctive style that fits the storyline like a glove. There's witty dialogue and thoughtful scientific and sociological concepts. High-concept blockbuster movie comics at their best.

The second of the four Final Crisis Aftermath six-issue limited series to be completed (first was Final Crisis Aftermath: Run, posted complete by yours truly), features Nemesis and is written by Ivan Brandon, with art by Marco Rudy (Cliff Richards stepped in with issue #4 to #6). What started out as a seemingly solid mystery story became one of the most baffling and obtuse series of DC so far for 2009. Still, plenty of leftover intriguing concepts and ideas to bring it home.

is a horror anthology series published by Asylum Press. So far there are three issues planned, with issue #3 slated for "Winter 2009." Inasmuch as the first two issues have been released just prior to Halloween in the U.S., that schedule is doubtful. Anyway both issues offer enough scary and gory stories to satisfy most hungry horror fans. Intended for mature readers.

continues the tale of Batman, Robin and Azrael from last week's (Oct 7, 2009) in their attempts to thwart an ancient cult from sacrificing seven children in an effort to resurrect the embodiment of the eighth deadly sin. In a bold move, DC through writer Fabian Nicieza created a Batman story that spans two Batman annuals, and it's such a breath of fresh air. It's been a long time since the Batman books simply told a complete adventure featuring Batman's current world and supporting cast. Since the two annuals are meant to be read together, I also include here that I posted last week. Oh, and there's a bonus: also included in the cbr are the covers of both annuals joined together--that's it above (2560 x 1958 pixels).
