"The Lone Ranger and Tonto" is described by its writer Brett Matthews as a series of one-shot specials that serve as companion piece to Dynamite Entertainment's Eisner-nominated main series, . In these one-shot specials the Lone Ranger share equal billing with his faithful companion, Tonto. And where the main monthly series is character-heavy, these one-shot specials are more plot-centric, focusing on the adventures of the two protagonists while out on the range, with each issue a complete feature story that anyone can enjoy without any concern for story evolution or continuity. The kind I actually like.

Johns showcases the various members of the Corps this issue, and he is more than up to this formidable task, aided by an in-form Mahnke whose visual talents are perfectly suited for the title. One of the better Green Lantern issues thus far. IGN gave this one a "Great" 8.8 out of 10 rating and an Editors' Choice Award.

is an ongoing comic book series from Vertigo, set in Uganda, written by Joshua Dysart, with art by Alberto Ponticelli. It began publication in October 2008. It is the third series run for the Unknown Soldier character, a symbol for all the nameless soldiers who have fought in all of the wars of the United States of America. It has been gaining praise, one of which comes from Garth Ennis, who incidentally wrote a four-issue mini-series with the same title also under the Vertigo imprint, featuring art by Kilian Plunkett, a much darker portrayal which the current ongoing series has followed: "...A story with teeth, unafraid to confront some horrific truths about the world we live in." It was nominated for an Eisner Award for Best New Series.

    + Northlanders Issues #1-20 Complete

is an American comic book series published by DC Comics under their Vertigo imprint. The stories are fictional but set in and around historical events during the Viking Age. Northlanders is written by Brian Wood, illustrated by various artists on a per storyline basis with painted cover art by Massimo Carnevale. The first issue of the series was published on December 5, 2007. Wood has said that the series will be divided into standalone eight issue story arcs separated by two-issue arcs. Northlanders does not have a true main character; the cast and setting change with each story arc. Issue #21 starts a brand new story arc, titled “The Plague Widow.” After a full four issues of two-issue arcs, the series is back to its original format of longer stories placed squarely in the Viking lore. With each story arc, "Northlanders" follows a different character in a tenth- or eleventh-century setting where Vikings have made their mark; sometimes the protagonist is a Viking, as in the first arc, "Sven," while in others the heroes are fighting desperately to repel the Norse invaders. This series may perhaps be one of the best monthly comic books, along with Robert Kirkman's .

is a multi-awarded, long-running and still-ongoing weekly British science fiction-oriented comics anthology that serializes a number of separate stories each issue (called a "prog") that has been at the cutting edge of contemporary pop culture since it’s first publication by IPC Magazines in February 26, 1997. IPC, later Fleetway, continued to produce the title until 2000, when it was bought by Rebellion Developments. Due in part to its weekly publication schedule, it is one of only a few comics to surpass 1,600 issues. It is most noted for its Judge Dredd stories, and has been contributed to by a number of artists and writers who became renowned in the field internationally, such as Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Grant Morrison, Bryan Talbot, Brian Bolland, Garth Ennis and Mike McMahon.
