Starlight Dancer is a 1977 album by Dutch progressive rock band Kayak. It was produced by Jack Lancaster and Kayak. It was released on the Janus label. There is much confusion about this particular album. This is because the North American release is very different from the original Dutch/European release with the same title. The North American release is in fact a compilation of songs from two European Kayak LP's: The Last Encore (1976) and Starlight Dancer (1977). To add to the confusion, the American record company Janus Records used the title "Starlight Dancer", but the sleeve design of "The Last Encore".

What a voice !!! Accompanied by the superb JazzXpress, lead by drummer Eric Ineke, Deborah displays her greatness as a jazz singer with this tribute to Ivie Anderson. The consummate jazz artist and, in my humble opinion, the heir apparent to the great Ella Fitzgerald. Get this album !!!

    1st German CD-Pressing 1987 (LP originally released 1976)

Tales of Mystery and Imagination is an extremely mesmerizing aural journey through some of Edgar Allan Poe's most renowned works. With the use of synthesizers, drums, guitar, and even a glockenspiel, Parsons' shivering effects make way for an eerie excursion into Poe's well-known classics. … Without any underlying theme to be pondered upon, Alan Parsons instead paints a vivid picture of one of the most alluring literary figures in history by musically reciting his most famous works in expert fashion. To those wondering whether to add this CD to their collection I recommend that you bear in mind Duke Ellington's words - "There are only two kinds of music: good music and bad music", because this CD belongs unquestionably to the first category. All instrumental, it contains a variety of styles - including ballad, reggae, funk, and rock - read the other reviews for the details. And finally, please don't ever pretend to have any inkling of what Jeff Beck is about, or what he is capable of, without being familiar with this particular album.

The release of this album in 2005 coincided with Dave Brubeck turning 85 !!! The ten songs offer a veritable tour through the whole of the pianist's strengths, both as a composer and an improviser. Recorded in 2004, he's working in his favored and most celebrated format, a quartet, with saxophonist Bobby Militello offering the melodic counterpoint to Brubeck's playing. The earliest number, "Ballad of the Rhine," was written in 1945 when Brubeck was in the army and stationed in Germany. It was inspired by the rhythms of the tanks and trucks crossing bridges over the Rhine. His writing has always been anchored by a rich background in classical music (he studied with the French composer Darius Milhuad). Far from being an album mired in twilight of nostalgia, London Flat, London Sharp proves that Dave Brubeck was still a formidable presence in 2004.

AGP ranges from heavy funk to sophisticated jazz and all points in between. The band showcases their double saxophone attack (Dave Adams and Ben Groppe) on some songs, while Brendan McGinn's guitar work and vocals will be showcased on another. Just when you thought the band had no more surprises, keyboardist Rob Marscher will take a solo to make you believe in a higher power. With Andrew Keith locking everything down on drums, these five players bring a big sound to the stage. Each member brings a different writing style to the table and that is apparent in the band's diverse repertoire. More important than AGP's diversity (and the strength of each individual) is their ability to play as a whole. When all band members are clicking, that is when the true AGP sound emerges.
