"Gather the Faithful" is the debut album of Finnish power metal band Cain's Offering, an all-star project started by former Sonata Arctica guitarist Jani Liimatainen. It was recorded in 2009 in different studios in Finland and was released on July 22, 2009 in Japan via Avalon. In 2007 Jani parted ways with Finnish Power Metal act Sonata Arctica, a band he has contributed to found in 1996 and to which he devoted his full time and energy for more than 10 years. Drawing its musical influence from both the classic Hard Rock scene, the fast-paced European Power Metal and a very modern Heavy Metal sound, Cain's Offering is, just as expected, a perfect example of today's living and breathing Finnish music scene.

Overwhelmingly interesting and extremely variant, Jon Hassell's Dream Theory in Malaya is rescued from the stereotypical new age recipe, thanks to its ever-changing instrumental structure and the use of numerous eccentric instruments that emerge as the album progresses. The album's concept is taken from an anthropologist's 1935 study of a tribe of Malaysian aborigines who made it part of their daily routine to discuss the dreams they had the night before. To this story line, Hassell has created a novel and extraordinary set of instrumental meanderings that even includes a refurbished and re-fragmented set of rhythms that was believed to be created by the Semelai tribe.

Easy To Love is a fine representation of lovers’ rock, an effortless blend of reggae, R&B and dancehall with universal appeal. The sophistication he brings to these tracks is the mark of true quality. His delivery and phrasing are impeccable, and his choice of material and collaborators are strategic and brilliant.

Pamela Thorby has been recording for Linn for most of the label’s existence, both as ensemble player and soloist. This time she joins Andrew Lawrence-King (except for a few unaccompanied pieces) in a varied program of music of the 16th and 17th centuries. In his notes, the harpist has an explanation for the disc title in the literary use of the garden as a place of earthly delights (Hieronymus Bosch’s allusion) where lovemaking is accompanied by recorders and plucked strings. His essay lucidly explains some of the terminology too often taken for granted in music of this period. Diego Ortiz, in Trattado de glosas of 1553, illustrated three ways of playing music on instruments; hence the program uses three of his examples at the beginning, middle, and end of this program.

Arriving after a year's worth of anticipation that included plenty of blogger appreciation, several EPs, and inclusion in the BBC's Sound of 2013 shortlist, Chvrches' debut album, The Bones of What You Believe, surpassed the significant hype surrounding it. Many of these songs already appeared on those buzz-building EPs, most notably "The Mother We Share," "Gun," and "Recover," all of which exemplify the Glasgow trio's way with frosty synths and poignant melodies. Taken as an album, though, they reveal a band not nearly as arty or aloof as seemingly like-minded contemporaries such as Grimes or Purity Ring; with their ready hooks and fondness for grand gestures, Chvrches are more likely to tour with Paramore than Factory Floor.

Stupa is the latest release from New Zealand producer of ambient. These ambient arrangements are from the sphere where ambient and Indian classical music converge. Dig out your Ramayana and float away on a little lotus leaf along the river of souls. "Stupa" follows in David's hypnotic tradition of mixing traditional Indian instruments with keyboards and electronics, a clash of times and cultures with that unmistakable magic charm. The material used for this album was composed between 2011 and 2013. The album comes in a jewel case with a 16-page booklet.

During the late '60s and early '70s Maestro Percy Faith was churning out some of the best releases with top notch arrangements ~ thus enters the album at hand "Angel of the Morning/Black Magic Woman", featuring Faith's Orchestra and Chorus. Each song had an upbeat tone to it, with "DO YOU KNOW THE WAY TO SAN JOSE?" and the beautiful ballad "THIS GUY'S IN LOVE WITH YOU", both tunes from the composing team of Hal David and Burt Bacharach
