If Wacken shows Deep Purple's performance in front of a huge rock audience, playing as if they had to leave all their habits behind, the Tokyo show is presenting Deep Purple completely at ease with their history and themselves. On the very same venue where the band has written rock history with the album “Made In Japan”, Deep Purple went on stage without nostalgia and with the attitude of a band that is physically led by the music, making playing a perfect show look as the most natural thing one could do. Song after song, Purple play a flawless show going back and forth in time…

Headed by Michael Abene, these three musicians now took on the album Big Band Boom together with the WDR Big Band and guests Nicolas Fiszman (bass) and Roland Peil (perc). The name says it all: Metro pieces in big band with funky horns and driving rhythm section!

Don Grolnick was a busy session pianist/keyboardist who played on many kinds of dates, including jazz fusion and pop. But for a brief period in the late 1980s and early '90s, he detoured into playing post-bop. Weaver of Dreams was the first of his two CDs for Blue Note, featuring an all-star septet including the Brecker Brothers, Bob Mintzer, Dave Holland, Peter Erskine, and Barry Rogers.

The Live is the story of the last years "on The Road" of this legendary Italian band from the 70's. Arti & Mestieri mix well the true Jazz-Rock (akin to Weather Report & Mahavishnu Orchestra) and more symphonic prog. This CD+DVD was taken from two different concerts: the CD from the Festival at ClubCittà in Kawasaki, Japan, on November 5, 2011 and the DVD from the Festival of Veruno, Italy, on September 2, 2011, with special guests: guitarist Gigi Venegoni, original member of the formation, in the CD, and Mel Collins and David Cross, ex King Crimson, in the DVD.

This is SAGA's 15th studio album, released in 2003. "Marathon", the title track was used to open most of the bands concerts in 2003. Along with the ambitious Generation 13, Marathon is one of Saga's most mature albums to date and although it does not contain any 'hit' songs per se (if you exclude the ballad "The Blind Side of Your Heart"), its depth assures it a very long shelf life. The musicianship on it is impeccable and so is the production. A fine album indeed.

When Ryan DeRobertis announced the name change of his project from Saint Pepsi to Skylar Spence, there was no indication of any stylistic departure, though the change arrived with a musical shift toward faster tempos and more pristine production. Whereas Saint Pepsi had often used decades-old boogie, disco, and new wave as grist for the sampling mill, Skylar Spence is intent on trafficking more overtly in those genre aesthetics through his own production techniques and vocal contributions. With 'Prom King,' DeRobertis reorients his music for his new full-band live act and winds up with an album full of tight and enveloping dance tunes.

Wray, his brother Vernon and band decamped to his farm in Maryland where Vernon set up a three-track recorder in an outhouse the eponymous three-track shack. Three albums resulted from the recording sessions. 1971's Link Wray was originally mooted for release on the Apple label but eventually came out on Polydor, as did Mordecai Jones a pseudonymous title that featured pianist Bobby Howard on vocals.

It was designed to be a blockbuster and it was. Prior to Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Elton John had hits – his second album, Elton John, went Top 10 in the U.S. and U.K., and he had smash singles in "Crocodile Rock" and "Daniel" – but this 1973 album was a statement of purpose spilling over two LPs, which was all the better to showcase every element of John's spangled personality…

The official release of The Basement Tapes – which were first heard on a 1968 bootleg called The Great White Wonder – plays with history somewhat, as Robbie Robertson overemphasizes the Band's status in the sessions, making them out to be equally active to Dylan, adding in demos not cut at the sessions and overdubbing their recordings to flesh them out. As many bootlegs (most notably the complete five-disc series) reveal, this isn't entirely true and the Band were nowhere near as active as Dylan, but that ultimately is a bit like nitpicking, since the music here (including the Band's) is astonishingly good.

Scott Weiland’s wild side has been extensively documented, but the frontman for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver is in relatively modest, tuneful form throughout Blaster. His backing group, The Wildabouts, are students of ’70s rock (34-year-old lead guitarist Jeremy Brown died tragically upon the album’s release). This influence shows; there's a T. Rex cover (“20th Century Boy”) and the Marc Bolan–inspired “Way She Moves.” “Modzilla” evokes Blue Öyster Cult’s “Godzilla,” while “Beach Pop” imagines what The Beach Boys might've been like had they arrived a decade later. Even the acoustic-based “Circles” is reminiscent of country-rockers The Pure Prairie League. Fascinating stuff.

Believe it or not, Slade on Stage is the most intense recording Slade has ever made. That's heavy. This live album, recorded circa Till Deaf Do Us Part, shows the band playing faster, harder, and better than ever. Slade on Stage contains five of the band's new songs and four of their classic hits, along with an audience singalong to end the show…

TAKO are something as unusual as a Yugoslavian jazz-rock and symphonic progressive rock band. The band was put together in 1975 and the band's name means "this way". Between 1975 and their split up in 1981 they released two classical albums: "Tako" (1975) and "U Vréci Za Spavanje" (1980). This is two great reissues from the Brazilian label Rock Symphony, a label that have reissued many forgotten jewels before such as ALPHA III, FRAGIL, MALIBRAN, and new releases with HADDAD and TEMPUS FUGIT.

Janet Damita Jo Jackson is an American singer, songwriter and actress. Known for a series of sonically innovative, socially conscious and sexually provocative records, as well as elaborate stage shows, television and film roles, she has been a prominent figure in popular culture for over 25 years. Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 is her fourth studio album. Despite demands from label executives for material similar to her previous album, Control (1986), she insisted on creating a concept album addressing social injustice. Produced during the height of the new jack swing genre, the album blends rhythm and blues with industrial music and the utilization of rap vocals, swing note, synthesized percussion and the use of sample loop.
