The Andrews Sisters were the most successful female vocal group of the first half of the 20th century in the U.S. One source lists 113 singles chart entries by the trio between 1938-1951, an average of more than eight per year. They boasted an exuberant, close-harmony style well-suited to cheery novelty songs, and their intricate vocal arrangements and rhythmic ability mirrored the sound of the swing bands that constituted their chief competition in their heyday. The first two discs in this set present all of their Top Ten recordings (based on the Billboard magazine), whilst the other two discs showcase many songs that have not been heard for some considerable time.

This exclusive LPO release charts the development of the Hollywood sound over two decades of epic filmmaking from the 1960s to the 1980s. Featuring the iconic music from such classics as Cleopatra, Psycho and The Godfather, this release offers a unique opportunity to hear some of the 20th centurys most dramatic music, recorded in a live concert setting. Distinguished American conductor John Mauceri arranged and edited most of this music for concert performance, using his experience and expertise to create a truly coherent set of pieces which work as well in the concert hall as they do on screen. A number of the arrangements on this release are appearing on disc for the first time, having received their London premieres at the live performance captured here, including Mauceris arrangements of music from The Godfather and Psycho, which he himself conducted. In particular this is the first ever release of the Cleopatra film music. These recordings were taken from a live concert performance at Southbank Centres Royal Festival Hall in November 2013 as part of the Southbank Centres The Rest Is Noise festival, based on Alex Rosss book The Rest Is Noise.

Peter Legat es un guitarrista que en la década de los 80 tuvo oportunidad de trabajar en algunos de los primeros trabajos de la banda Incognito. Esas fueron las bases para el sonido de su proyecto, que pondría en marcha en la década de los 90. Ahí es cuando nace Count Basic, con la aparición del primer álbum Life Think It Over en 1994. Al proyecto se sumó la vocalista neoyorquina Kelli Sae, otra artista cuyo prestigio continuó aumentando con sus abundantes colaboraciones, también, junto a la banda Incognito. Kelli Sae se convirtió en la cantante talismán de Peter Legat para los sucesivos álbumes de Count Basic.
