This LP is worth searching for. If you are inside electronic music, for sure you will find inside only one notable track, but this one is THE one. I'm speaking about "Time Centre", a track you can find on much of those nowdays famous and highly collectable cosmic music tapes mixed by the italian DJ's Baldelli, Loda, Ebreo… "Time Centre" is one of those unknown-well known pieces, nobody is thinking finding it in a so called rock LP like this one.

Though based in Germany, acoustic jazz quartet Quadro Nuevo devoted its creative energies to resurrecting the fading musical traditions of Europe as a whole, in particular embracing the tango. Guitarist Robert Wolf, reedist Mulo Francel, accordionist Andreas Hinterseher, and bassist D.D. Lowka co-founded Quadro Nuevo in Salzburg in 1996. Originally commissioned to write and produce film music for the Austrian broadcaster ORF, the four musicians immediately bonded over their eclectic musical backgrounds and shared affection for nostalgia, and in the decade to follow they played more than 1,500 live dates across the continent, forging an alchelmical acoustic sound from elements of flamenco, Balkan swing, traditional folk, and avant-garde improvisation. Issuing their debut album, Luna Rossa, in 1998, …

The late Eva Cassidy gained a loyal following in the Washington, D.C., area through appearances in small clubs, utilizing her pitch-perfect singing voice to interpret a variety of tunes ranging from standards to modern-era pop songs. A notoriously shy performer, Eva Cassidy had a somewhat stiff stage presence, but she endeared herself to her audiences by performing songs she obviously loved, combining elements of soul, gospel, blues, and jazz. Live at Blues Alley is an excellent showcase for her vocal talents and her ability to make even the most familiar tune uniquely her own. Admittedly, the titles on Live at Blues Alley seem like a set list for a bad Vegas lounge act; songs such as Irving Berlin's "Cheek to Cheek" and Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" have been done to death for decades. Fortunately, Eva Cassidy had…

It can be easy to dismiss a Kitaro album as more "new age fluff." Indeed, many reviewers have done so, thereby depriving their readers of an honest appraisal and an opportunity to experience the sheer joy of this music. Silk Road, Vol. 2 is the second collection from Kitaro's soundtracks for the Japanese television series of the same name. These light, symphonic synthesizer pieces are elegant and glamorous. Kitaro approaches his craft tenderly and lovingly and it shows in his gentle touch. The ebb and flow of these pieces is warm and friendly.

A performance-oriented Latin dance band from Venezuela heavily indebted to funk and disco (with a dash of acid jazz), los Amigos Invisibles made a big splash in their homeland in 1995 with their debut album, A Typical and Autoctonal Venezuelan Dance Band, which featured odd Japanese animé-style artwork. Bandmembers Julio Briceño (vocals), José Luis Pardo (guitar, songwriting), Armando Figueredo (keyboards), Mauricio Arcas (raps), José Rafael Torres (bass), and Juan Manuel Roura (drums) supported their growing reputation with a series of underground dance parties at the mostly deserted clubs of Caracas.

This one's truly all about the music! We're pleased to add the Municipal Auditorium, Nashville, TN, April 22, 1978 to list of "officially released" Grateful Dead shows. A spitfire of a performance that helps mark the band's "end-of-1977 sound," we find the seven firing on all cylinders, hitting high notes on crowd-pleasers like "Bertha>Good Lovin'" and "Jack Straw" in the first set and on "Not Fade Away">"Wharf Rat">"Sugar Magnolia" in the second, lest we forget to mention one of the finest versions of "Wharf Rat" ever performed. We could wax lyrical about the countless highlights of this night but we'd rather just let the jammy goodness prevail!

Dave Stryker celebrates the man he worked with for over a decade Stanley Turrentine, Mister T with ten of the greatest tenor sax players on the scene today. Now here s a winning hand: Dave Stryker's organ trio, ten of the world's finest tenor saxophone players, and the legacy of Stanley Turrentine. You could call it a tribute to the late tenor great, but given Stryker's audacious title, Mister T looms here more like an enduring challenge than an icon of past glories. The Pittsburgh native died 15 years ago, but he remains synonymous with soulfulness. Messin' with Mister T is Dave Stryker s personal homage to Turrentine, whom he toured with for over a decade and recorded with twice.

hat Krautrock figures into the picture is the big surprise on Death in Vegas' fourth release, but what's shocking is that Neu! and Kraftwerk are so mimicked on Satan's Circus. For a band headed up, up, up, Satan's Circus is a huge question mark, in career move terms at least, and one wonders why such a derivative album wasn't put out under an alias. Before it gets to the bridge, "Zugaga" is one note off from Kraftwerk's "Trans-Europe Express."

Quantic Presents The Western Transient is the latest project from Will “Quantic” Holland, bringing together a handpicked band of some of his favourite musicians to realise a set of new compositions paying homage to the rich, lively and intimate quality of the classic soul and jazz recordings. The resulting album, 'A New Constellation', is out 31st July on Tru Thoughts (with a deluxe, handmade hardback gatefold vinyl edition); in characteristically mercurial fashion this new outing sees Holland following up the explosive, worldly electronic and vocal direction of his last solo album, 'Magnetica', with a suite of traditionally recorded pieces that capture the spontaneous beauty in the old ways of music making.

How is it that Eela Craig haven't gotten more attention from lovers of ‘70s Euro-rock? Is it because they were too Austrian or too arty for Krautrock lovers, who prefer the grittier, more visceral sounds of German bands like Can and Guru Guru to Eela Craig's sophisticated prog stylings? On the other side of the fence, did they miss out on inclusion in the pantheon of classic prog bands because they weren't from England, or were lumped in with the Krautrock scene? Whatever the case, their second album, One Niter, is a grand-scale prog rock masterpiece.

The Aristocrats is a heavy rock and jazz fusion power trio from around the world. The music here tends toward playful fun but incoherence. This is a series of lengthy albeit sophisticated jams full of incredible technical proficiency but lacking any memorability."Boing!. I'm in the Back" Distorted guitar and an odd rhythm adopt a quirky drive in this opener. Eventually, it boasts a bit of progressive surf rock. I appreciate the softer side the band takes on during the middle passage.
