Though based in Germany, acoustic jazz quartet Quadro Nuevo devoted its creative energies to resurrecting the fading musical traditions of Europe as a whole, in particular embracing the tango. Guitarist Robert Wolf, reedist Mulo Francel, accordionist Andreas Hinterseher, and bassist D.D. Lowka co-founded Quadro Nuevo in Salzburg in 1996. Originally commissioned to write and produce film music for the Austrian broadcaster ORF, the four musicians immediately bonded over their eclectic musical backgrounds and shared affection for nostalgia, and in the decade to follow they played more than 1,500 live dates across the continent, forging an alchelmical acoustic sound from elements of flamenco, Balkan swing, traditional folk, and avant-garde improvisation. Ron Carter is the perfect jazz bassist par. Its unique game can be heard on an estimated two thousand albums, some fifty of which he recorded as a leader. His technical and musical resources are limitless, his legendary reputation also. Russell Malone Donald VegaNatürlich is especially remembered that Carter was a member of the classic Miles Davis Quintet in the sixties. But are its ongoing efforts to establish the bass as a lead instrument acclaimed on all sides at least as great credit. So Carter has worked in his career with the most diverse ensemble constellations: duo recordings with guitarist Jim Hall, pianist Cedar Walton and accordionist Richard Galliano in his discography to find as Nonet recordings with four cellos. Even on his latest album experimented today 69-year-old with a refined cast.

Feng Shui Part 1 (1996). The music for each is meant to evoke the spirit of Feng Shui according to the elements. From the santoor of the Kahmiran Himalayas and the flutes evoking the Andes as well as the sound of the accordion, conjuring the image of folk dance in a mountain village in the first track, we move on to the sounds of the flute, harp, and accordion to suggest the forest in springtime in the second track. Next we are treated to the sounds of the flute again, and combined with the clarinet and the guitar comes the feel of a gentle breeze that will transport us through the landscape. In 2011 DG released a spectacular 10-CD anthology on Archiv Produktion with Ensemble Plus Ultra (EPU), “the finest British early music singers” (Early Music Today), commemorating the 400th anniversary of Tomas de Victoria’s death. This box sold about 6.100 units worldwide and won a Gramophone award. Now the award winning ensemble is back with a major recording project to mark the 400th anniversary of the death of El Greco in 2014 – composers including Cristobal de Morales, Alonso Lobo and Alonso de Tejeda were prolific in Toledo during the 37 years El Greco lived and worked there, and much of this music certainly inspired his painting.

Their current music is a combination of Progressive Rock and New Instrumental Music, with touches of Jazz and passages dedicated to an experimentation near to Ambient. Their originality was due to the blend electronic and repetitive musics with a lot of ethnic elements from North Africa, India, etc. Very much like your early Ashra Tempel, Guru Guru type bands except with a cultural influence. This special edition contains a Bonus-DVD with concert footage from Berlin and the Burg Herzberg Festival 2013.

Dave Edmunds assembled a self-consciously eclectic roots-rock album for D.E. 7th, his first post-Rockpile effort. Instead of returning to a one-man band status, Edmunds hired a new band, which prevented him from returning to the studied perfectionism of his early work. Nevertheless, D.E. 7th lacks the pop sensibilities that made early Edmunds a guilty pleasure, concentrating instead on roots musics. While that occasionally means there's mis-steps like "Deep in the Heart of Texas," but it also means the wonderful bluegrass-stomp "Warmed Over Kisses (Left Over Love)," the country-rocker "Bail You Out," the cajun-tinged "Louisiana Man" and the excellent Springsteen cover "From Small Things (Big Things One Day Come)." The rest of D.E. 7th is uneven, but there a few enjoyable cuts, and compared to what came later, it's certainly more fun.

VICTOR PERAINO was the American keyboard player for Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come, a band often overlooked in the pantheon of UK progressives. Following the group's final album "Journey", Peraino returned to the States, and somehow retained the rights to the group name. Details are sketchy, but according to legend only 100 copies of " No man's Land" were pressed making this a major rarity selling for four figures more often than not. A follow-up EP "We’re Next", contains a new version of the big hit "Fire", was recorded and released in 1981 which almost just as rare. Both releases were put together on this CD. The vinyl format is a limited 500 copies and contains the 7" EP.
