Fellow Dane, Hess, is on piano and history may be re-written and say a dog was named after him. Akinmusire provides the excitement that adds to the emotive content. 25 years after the official debut, Gamma Ray and earMUSIC have started a monumental work to re-release the entire production by Gamma Ray in deluxe double CDs. The original albums will be re-presented in new shining, remastered version on the first disc (with the inclusions of all B-sides) while the second CD will be dedicated to old live recordings, demos digitalised for the first time from the original tapes saved by all members of the band, alternative versions and recent studio and live recordings.

Disco jams and sweet ballads are featured on Peaches & Herb's return to the charts after a long absence. "Reunited," a majestic ballad about lovers getting back together, pulverized the charts, it topped the pop and the R&B charts, it stayed at number one for four weeks running on Billboard's Pop 100 Chart. A new Peaches, Linda Greene, is featured. Francine Barker was the original Peaches who scored with Herb Fame (Feemster) in the '60s with "Close Your Eyes" and "Lets Fall in Love." This new Peaches oozed sexuality, and her voice could raise the dead. Producer Freddie Perren, well aware of the disco rage, balanced their slowies with rump shakers like "Shake Your Groove Thing," and "We've Got Love," two of their better uptempo numbers. "Groove Thing" went to number five in the country and was their biggest record ever until "Reunited." The duo's specialty were ballads, and "Fours a Traffic Jam" is a beauty, Fame's sweet falsetto and Greene's sexy phrasings are intoxicating.

Although music like that heard on drummer Michael White's CD is marketed as "contemporary jazz," much of it sounds like Ramsey Lewis's recordings of 20 years ago. The hook-filled melodies, whiny sax by Everette Harp, the obligatory throwaway soul vocal from Phil Perry, a few pleasing but vapid melodic solos, the token jazz tune ("'Round Midnight") and fadeouts whenever the music nears the five- to six-minute mark are all quite predictable and formulaic.

Visions of Surya is the 3rd release on Virtual, a record label releasing limited edition immersive ambient music and works of Ishq. This release was co-written by Jake stephenson and Matt hillier from Ishq under the guise of Colourform, a project they had been working on since 2002. The album has a magical eastern quality to it and was written as a series of pipe dreams experienced by someone travelling in a strange exotic land. Exotic and otherworldly the album is a musical magic carpet ride.
