The Chapters Live is a live album by Canadian progressive rock band Saga. It compiles live recordings of The Chapters, which were originally released over eight studio albums starting in 1978. The studio versions were originally released over a 25-year period in a mixed-up order to create a conceptual puzzle.

The pianist and the guitarist are equally at home with classic jazz compositions, standards, pop songs, and originals. They devour Milt Jackson's "Reunion Blues," a driving hard bop performance with spine-tingling solos. Equally thrilling are their jaunty takes of Charlie Parker's rarely heard blues "Bluebird," and the saxophonist's intricate "Passport," the latter with Malone providing a percussion by tapping on his guitar for a chorus. SPEAK TO ME OF LOVE" has always been one of my favorite Ray Conniff albums. I have all his albums (more than 100!) and this is specially delightfull because the choice of songs is excellent and, in my oppinion, the Singers featured in this album are simply the best group that ever worked with him. Listen to "LOVER COME BACK TO ME", "BEYOND THE SEA" and "THE SWEETEST SOUNDS" and you'll agree with me. - Amazon -

Q's Jook Joint blends the latest in hip-hop-flavored productions with sleek urban ballads, vintage standards, and derivative pieces; everything's superbly crafted, though few songs are as exciting in their performance or daring in their conception as past Jones epics like Gula Matari or the score from Roots. Still, you can't fault Jones for his choice of musical collaborators: everyone from newcomer Tamia to longtime stars like Ray Charles, rappers, instrumentalists, male and female vocalists, percussionists, and toasters. The CD really conveys the seamless quality one gets from attending a juke joint, though it lacks the dirt-floor grit or blues fervor of traditional Southern and chitlin circuit hangouts. But no one's more knowledgeable about the spectrum of African-American music, nor better able to communicate it via disc, than Quincy Jones.
