Queen, the famed British glam-rock band, were distinguished by their harmonies and operatic allusions, reflecting the classical background and training of lead singer Freddie Mercury. 45 years after the bands first show in the classic line-up of Mercury, May, Taylor and Deacon, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates Queens classical roots with this symphonic tribute, featuring hits that will truly rock you.

Second album from this excellent Melodic Metal band!! Vandamne plays a well crafted style of Melodic Metal and Hard Rock backed by polished vocal harmonies and first rate musicianship. Crunching guitars (P.J. Southern and Chris Gyngell), excellent drums (Paul Cooke) and sound make this an explosive affair.

For nearly an hour, German keyboardist Hans-Joachim Roedelius runs up and down the keys of a Steinway grand piano, producing music that’s both lovely and accessible. This has much to do with the way Roedelius plays; the record comes off as somewhere in between strict composition and emotive improvisation.

"Divinities: Twelve Dances With God" is the second studio album by Jethro Tull frontman Ian Anderson. All 12 tracks are instrumental and are influenced by different ethnical musical traditions: Celtic ("In the Grip of Stronger Stuff"), Spanish ("In the Pay of Spain"), African ("En Afrique") and so on.

    River Tiber - Indigo (2016)
    MP3 CBR 320 kbps | Tracks: 12 | 39:15 min | 100 Mb
Style: Electronic, Alternative | Label: River Tiber

Toronto singer/producer River Tiber’s debut drips with woozy and weird, late-night R&B. Like an amalgam of all the reference points that came before it—chillwave, L.A.'s beat scene, indie R&B à la How to Dress Well and The Weeknd—these bedroom-recorded slow jams were made for staying there. Tommy Paxton-Beesley’s slinky croon on tracks like “Acid Test" never sounds forced; instead, it's lush and soulful, backed by just enough instrumentation to keep things feeling in-the-moment. It's all balanced, oddly enough, by his off-kilter beats and wobbly synth washes, which leave you swimming in a dream state.

Absolutely no one does the rockabilly hits like the Stray Cats: nobody. This album proves it. 20 Flight Rock is so incredible, it must be heard to be believed. Somethin' Else just jams, I Fought The Law is almost better than the original, Be Bop A Lula, surpasses the orginal, Let It Rock is everything you expect it to be and Train Kept A Rollin' will keep you rollin' and wanting more.

Style: Electronic, Ambient, Modern Classical | Label: Aguirre Records

For those recently indoctrinated in Ian William Craig’s drone hymns, ‘Meaning Turns to Whispers’ may come as a surprise. His first record stands, alongside song-written and vocalised records such as ‘A Turn of Breath’ and ‘Cradle for the Wanting’, as something completely different: a largely instrumental, suffocatingly noisy but decidedly Frahmian piano record. Delve closer into Craig’s discography, and this shouldn’t be all that surprising: he’s released these kind of records alongside his records proper, be it ‘Theia for the Archive’, with its Hecker-scarred ballads, or ‘Zugzwang for Fostex’, a largely noise-decayed tape of miniatures. For the first entry into Craig’s canon, though, it’s interesting that he hid his most notable instrument: the voice.

This was Kingdom Come's second disc. This disc is more of the same, often called "Kingdom Clone" because they sounded so much like Led Zeppelin. The material is in a straight-ahead hard rock musical direction. Lenny Wolf does a gratifying and industrious job with the vocals.

Mayall's first post-Bluesbreakers album saw the man returning to his roots after the jazz/blues fusion that was Bare Wires. Blues from Laurel Canyon is a blues album, through and through. Testimony to this is the fact that there's a guitar solo only 50 seconds into the opening track…

Why a recording of Bach's Inventions and Sinfonias in altered order? The 1723 fair copy of both the Inventions and the Sinfonias has the keys ordered according to the ascending scale (C major / C minor; D major / D minor etc.). There is however no compelling reason to perform them that way; there are musically more meaningful and attractive sequences. Thomas Ragossnig presents one of them on this CD for the first time. He mixes the Inventions and Sinfonias in the same key and performs them in groups of two or four.

Tupelo Honey is typical of Van Morrison's early-'70s work in both sound and structure; after dispensing with the requisite hit – here, the buoyant, R&B-inflected "Wild Night" – he truly gets down to business, settling into a luminously pastoral drift typified by the nostalgic "Old Old Woodstock."

Deepening a two-tenor partnership that dates back to the mid-'90s, saxophonists Seamus Blake and Chris Cheek follow up their quintet release 'Reeds Ramble' (CRISS1364CD) with 'Let's Call the Whole Thing Off', featuring the same powerful band lineup (Ethan Iverson on piano, Matt Penman on bass, Jochen Rueckert on drums). While they stand apart as gifted soloists, Blake and Cheek always flourish as a team, bringing lustre to every tune with their lyrical unison melodies and beautifully harmonised theme statements.

Grateful Dead, live from the Capitol Theatre, Passaic, New Jersey on 28th November 1978. Though they were exhausted from touring, drug use in the band was escalating, and Jerry Garcia was suffering from a sore throat, this superb show captures the Dead on fiery form. Originally broadcast on WNEW-FM, it features some stupendous interplay, with especially prominent keyboards from Keith Godchaux, who was shortly to leave the band. Its presented here with background notes and rare photos in a 3cd clamshell box.
