Look Sharp! is the second studio album by the Swedish rock duo Roxette. It was recorded at EMI Studios in Stockholm and at Trident II Studios in London between March and June 1988. Hai-Kyung Suh says in the booklet note that K459 appeals to her because of its “innocence and purity” and her pleasing reading closely reflects her feeling for it. There is no over-meaningful shading and the listener is aware of the pianist’s presence – I do not mean that her instrument is particularly forward; indeed the balance with the orchestra is admirable – for it is her confidence that gives an imposing impression.

Ok, so the name is fairly ridiculous. So is the over-the-top visual apparatus. But if you manage to get past these things, the band actually rocks plenty hard. Cinderella were one of the bands packaged under 'hair metal' in the mid-1980's. Although not as famous as Poison or Motley Crue, the band enjoyed a stint of MTV airplay and a reasonably long career that was recently rehashed with a few reunion tours. 'Night Songs' was the album that started it all.

Aria Rostami and Daniel Blomquist's debut album "Wandering Eye" was recorded over the span of a year and a half. "Dome A" and "Dome B" were recorded inside of a planetarium dome to no audience and it was the second time Rostami and Blomquist played together. "Ridge A" is the latest song recorded and it was performed live in Blomquist's basement. These live tracks use source material ranging from samples from the internet, to live field recordings, to synthesizers. "Dome C" and "Dome F" were compiled by sending material back and forth over and over again and then rearranged into coherent songs. These studio recordings mostly consist of processed piano originally recorded by Rostami.

I've heard about Javier Vargas for a few years now, and my first real introduction to him was a live CD that I was able to obtain a couple months back. Since then I've been able to locate several other CD's that's he's recorded over the last few years. "Gipsy Boogie" is a different CD from the previous one's that I've obtained. While most of the others were solidly into Texas style blues overall, this CD strays in style to a more latin flavored blues. Think Texas blues mixed with Carlos Santana style latin sounds along with a strong dose of Spanish classical and flamenco music. This CD over the others that I've obtained shows Javier Vargas at his most diverse musical styles.
