The original soundtrack to the civil rights/football drama Remember the Titans features classic rock, pop, and soul hits like Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky," and Buck Owens' "Act Naturally." Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band's "Express Yourself," Eric Burdon & War's "Spill the Wine," and Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Up Around the Bend" are some of the other high points from this rousing collection, which complements the film's tale of a recently integrated high school football team in the early '70s.

The debut album of progressive rock band Sarcophagus Now from Umeå, northern sweden. The album is instrumental, recorded by five bandmembers with lots of electric guitar, analog synthesizers, electric piano, organ and mellotron. The songs of the album are all at about 10 minutes each, and features expanding variations on different themes, solos, a lot of odd time signature use.

Celebrating their 35th anniversary this year, Canadian progressive sci-fi metal innovators VOIVOD will release their new studio album, "The Wake", on September 21 for via Century Media Records. The highly anticipated follow-up to 2013's "Target Earth" album as well as the 2016 mini-album "Post Society" was recorded and mixed by Francis Perron at RadicArt Recording Studio in Canada. The album's artwork was once again created by VOIVOD drummer Michel "Away" Langevin

This CD reissue consists primarily of tracks from Chick Corea's early Blue Note LPs Now He Sings, Now He Sobs and The Song of Singing. Both are trio sessions. The former, recorded in 1968, featured bassist Miroslav Vitous and drummer Roy Haynes playing a program combining originals and standards. The latter, recorded in 1970, is a more experimental outing with bassist Dave Holland and drummer Barry Altschul. Corea's playing demonstrates a freedom and spontaneity that became all too rare on his later recordings, while the compelling interaction of the trio pointed the way for the ECM chamber-jazz sound of the early '70s. Shortly after this recording, saxophonist Anthony Braxton joined the trio to form the short-lived Circle, which combined free jazz with avant-garde classical composition.

1969 marked Duke Ellington’s 70th year, and in honor of the occasion, Jazz Impresario George Wein sent Ellington and his band out on a European tour, a 70th birthday tour, so to speak. In a brief concert series entitled “Newport to Paris”, we have the chance to hear Duke and the band performing live in Paris, and the Salle Pleyel in November, 1969. On this night we hear Duke and his orchestra in rare form, presenting a few of such newly written compositions, featuring luminaries like Cootie Williams, Johnny Hodges, Lawrence Brown, Russell Procope, Paul Gonsalves, Cat Anderson and more.
