Zebra Ranch, named after the Coldwater, Mississippi, recording studio of Dickinson's late father Jim Dickinson, where both of the band's albums have been crafted, pushes this evolution further. Where Burnside wrote or co-wrote seven of the first album's 10 songs, here he contributes to four of 14. Instead, Dickinson has taken the primary songwriting role, writing or co-writing half the songs, and both Coburn and Smithhart take on larger roles. The band also moves further away from the North Mississippi Allstars template with the departure of bassist Chris Chew, replaced by Doc Samba. (Young Memphis music veteran David Mason is also new on drums.)
Richie Kotzen's Soldiers Of Sorrow features cover versions of Mobile Suit Gundam and Zeta Gundam TV series theme tunes, performed by guitarist Kotzen. The CD includes the title track "Ai Senshi" (Japanese for Soldiers Of Sorrow) and also includes three of Kotzen's original pieces - "The Way Forward", "Re-Encounter", and "The Beginning", the first two being instrumental tracks. Former David Lee Roth and Mr. Big bassist Billy Sheehan holds down the low end, while drummer Franklin Vanderbilt rounds out the solid rhythm section. Interestingly, the 'band' goes by the cryptic name Z x R.
Mr. Big are back with their first Studio album in 14 years by the original members. The new album entitled “What If…”was produced by Kevin Shirley (Aerosmith, Rush, Iron Maiden). The album is set to be release in early 2011 on Frontiers Records and will be followed by a World Tour beginning in South America in March.
Walker was hot enough over the course of a two-day stand at Slim's in San Francisco to warrant the issue of two full albums from the dates. The first is a sizzling combination of past triumphs, new items, and covers of Clifton Chenier's "Hot Tamale Baby," Junior Wells' "Little By Little" (with Huey Lewis, no less, on harp), and a saucy duet with Angela Strehli on the old Fontella Bass/Bobby McClure rocker "Don't Mess Up a Good Thing."
Rita Mitsouko is the self titled début album by Les Rita Mitsouko. At the time of release the group was simply called Rita Mitsouko. Catherine Ringer and Fred Chichin decided to add 'Les' to 'Rita Mitsouko' at this point to avoid mistakenly identifying the band only as Catherine's. Les Rita Mitsouko was a French pop rock group formed by guitarist Fred Chichin and singer Catherine Ringer. The duo first performed as Rita Mitsouko at Gibus Club, Paris in 1980. They went on to become one of the most successful musical acts of the 1980s in France. The duet has stated that the name "Rita Mitsouko" originates from the combination of Catherine Ringer's childhood friend and the name of a meal they enjoyed in a local Japanese restaurant soon after they met…..
Kent 'Omar' dykes has the first album "Big leg beat" from 1980 way for the international blues scene. 'Omar' and his "Texas by-the-way-of-Mississippi Blues" bluesen playing howlers and rock over twenty years worldwide. "Omar" the guitarist, singer, electrifies his fans with his vibrant full voice and his powerful Blues. "MonkeyLand" is no exception, but I find with big town shakedown (D.Dykes and Dick Wagner), this album from all his good albums stands out.
