Ian Hunter has always been one of the unsung heroes of the rock era. This british poet rocked onto the seen in the early seventies as lead singer of Mott The Hoople, before embarking on a fantastic and critically acclaimed solo career, that wasn't always recognized by the masses. This live cd "Strings Attached", along with a complete orchestra is nothing short of a gem. Recorded in Oslow Norway in the winter of 2002, Ian Hunter has never sounded better. There is a haunting quality to this live show, in which Hunter's english accent adds an emotional touch, that makes this performance one of the great live recordings in recent memory.

Jimmy Smith, who re-defined jazz organ in the 1950's and 1960's, never recorded a bad album (although he did record some mediocre ones after 1970). This album will please many Smith fans for its selection of classic tunes and disappoint some Waller enthusiasts. ~ Amazon

Augmenting his rhythm section of bassist Richard Davis and drummer Elvin Jones with vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson, pianist Andrew Hill records an excellent set of subdued but adventurous post-bop with Judgment. Without any horns, the mood of the session is calmer than Black Fire, but Hill's compositions take more risks than before. ~ AllMusic

Early Byrd: The Best of the Jazz Soul Years contains a selection of nine tracks from Donald Byrd's mid-'60s recordings, bypassing his funkier fusions of the late '60s and early '70s. These songs – including such numbers as "Slow Drag," "Jellyroll," "Mustang," "Blackjack" and "The Dude" – feature the trumpeter at his grittiest and funkiest. Fans of his early hard bop years will still find enough improvisation here to make it interesting, while latter-day fans will find enough grooves. It's a solid introduction to one of Byrd's most prolific periods.

Money Lover' after the debut "Big Road Blues' from 2007 already the second album by the company and like its predecessor to let them hear about a completely personal and unique sound to have. Former Lefthand Freddy bassist Cynthio Ooms replaced last year by Jan George Sportel while singer Herbie Grézels, guitarist and drummer Eric Zuidema Gerrit Bruinink still the men of the first hour.

Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837) was born in what is now Bratislava, but in the late 18th century was called Pressburg, and part of the Austrian Habsburg Empire. A precocious child he soon displayed great skill on both piano and violin. His studies in Vienna with Mozart (he was taken on by Mozart as a student when he was just 6 years old), Salieri and Albrechstberger gave him the best musical education possible.

Excellence abounds when it comes to the Brahms Piano Trios on disc, especially considering recent versions from Nicholas Angelich and the Capuçons (Virgin), the Florestan Trio (Hyperion), and the Abegg Trio (Tacet). To these references we now can add the Trio Wanderer, who has thoroughly digested, internalized, and transcended these scores' technical and musical challenges. So many marvelous details transpire over the course of the performances that it is difficult to know where to begin.

Though this isn't a high rated CD by any means, it still offers decent quality orchestration of the good ole classic Christmas tunes. All the pieces are played by the 101 String Orchestra, they do a reasonable job with the holiday classics.
