Metropolitan Jazz Affair is a Lyon France based jazz band created in 2002. “MJA” tends to make the connection between jazz and soul music, with various influences, from the Jazz Messengers, Horace Silver, Freddie Hubbard, Pharoah Sanders, Leon Thomas or more actual sounds like The Roots, Roy Ayers etc.

After MJA's impressive first eponymous album, they return with an elegant second album on INFRACom! Bruno Hovart, the main brain behind the groove of MJA and the astonishing Mr Day, channelling his angelic voice and soulful phrases, remain together more than ever in complicity with the trumpet master Stephane Ronget and pianist Benjamin Devigne. Olivier Granget, tenor saxophone and the Real Fake MC also appears on it.
Light and subtle, MJA gives birth to a springtime jazz. Crystallized with the insets of Hard Bop, stirred with US soul, flirting with hip-hop, this project brings jazz back to the hip-shaking dancefloor (Escapism). Like in the 60's, when Cannonball "Buckshot LeFonque" Adderley liked to see jazz get down, get up and sweat. The "Affair" has always had this frightening effectiveness.

Delightful corners of the European nature, from harsh northern seas of Norway to the beautiful southern coast of Portugal, mysterious caves, majestic mountains, colorful alpine meadows of Switzerland, beautiful waterfalls, rivers and lakes in Finland - this is only a small part of what you can see in the film series " Planet Earth in Lounge Music ". The main feature of this series is perfectly matched modern music, which is as much an important part of the film, as well as videos.

What we have here is a selection of Vivaldi's works for mandolin (the Double Concerto, RV532) and lute (Concerto, RV93 and Trios, RV82 and 85), all played on the guitar; sandwiched among them are the Concerto for two violins, RV524 and the solitary one for two cellos, RV531, the former with no other current recording. The best LP version of the lute works played on the designated instrument remains that of Lindberg on BIS (LP290, 9/85) but if the guitar is accepted as a substitute (which it commonly is) then Sollscher takes a clear lead. As he is no biological 'sport' he has resorted to double-tracking in RV532 (and he couldn't find a better partner). Not only does he play with refinement and sensitivity, he also embellishes the repeats very elegantly—and not just by throwing in a few ornaments. Of Berne Camerata one can write only appreciatively: they play with the utmost clarity, precision and life, and the recorded balance with the soloists is all one might ask. Tempos are well chosen, with the exception of RV93, the first movement of which is taken very briskly indeed. The recording, aided by a good acoustic, is crisply clear.

In 1993 the late Sam Wanamaker asked Philip Pickett to form an associate ensemble to carry the name and ethos of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre around the world through concerts, recordings and broadcasts.Determined to achieve the highest possible standards of musical performance, Pickett immediately formed the Musicians of the Globe from among the very best of England’s early music instrumentalists. Together with distinguished vocal soloists they explore a colourful and varied repertoire of Elizabethan and Jacobean music, much of it inspired by Shakespeare. The nucleus of the group – a 6-part English consort of violin, recorder, cittern, lute, bandora and bass viol – can be expanded to perform large-scale programmes of 17th-century music, and the Musicians often collaborate with John Ballanger, director of Fools Paradise and England’s leading juggling jester.
