European baroque music composed by Teodorico Pedrini at the Chinese Emperor's court where all kinds of European instruments were available and even built. There is nothing "Chinese" in Pedrini's music, but on this recording each of Pedrini's sonatas is preceded by a rather meditative and Chinese sounding "divertissement chinois" by another European composer at the Chinese court, Joseph-Marie Amiot.
"The Dark Epic", the fourth full-length album from ONE MAN ARMY AND THE UNDEAD QUARTET — the Swedish band featuring former THE CROWN vocalist Johan Lindstrand — will be released in Europe on February 25, 2011. The CD was recorded at Black Lounge studios in Avesta, Sweden with producer Jonas Kjellgren (SCAR SYMMETRY, CARNAL FORGE). The cover artwork, which can be viewed below, was created by Björn Goosses of Killustrations.
”Yes, Virginia…” is the second studio album from Boston-based alternative rock band The Dresden Dolls, released in April 2006. The album made its debut at number 42 on the US Billboard 200.
Long-time friends Nostalgia 77 and Natural Self set about working together on a collaborative project entitled The Broken Keys. For anyone familiar with their solo releases, this prospect alone was something to get excited about. Over the past five years, the two young producers have spanned the realms of jazz, funk and hip hop, reinventing each in their own inimitable style. No one, however, could have predicted just how compelling the results of their first joint venture would be.
2011 debut album from the British vocalist. Clare has been heavily tipped for big things. She was recently named as both Q magazine and HMV's `Next Big Thing' and has just been shortlisted in MTV's Brand New For 2011 and the BBC Sound of 2011 Poll. Songs on Light After Dark are inspired by everything from the death of Michael Jackson (`The Last Dance') to the magic of childhood (`The Happiest Pretenders') or the loneliness of her first few months in the capital (the uplifting, Gospel-inflected `Break These Chains'), these are torch songs for the 21st century, both completely contemporary and utterly timeless. You'll hear mournful echoes of the Irish Folk music Clare grew up with on this album, hints of all the artists that influenced her: the Celtic vibes of Sinead O'Connor, the powerful vocals of Annie Lennox, the quirky innovations of Kate Bush, the soul of Johnny Cash. But mostly, you'll hear an iconic new singer with a sound that's all her own. Polydor.
Part Monster is the ninth album by Piano Magic. It was released on May 29, 2007.
Recording of the ballet "Lady-Soubrette" is the last page of the unprecedented work — "Anthology of Russian Symphony Music", conductor Evgeni Svetlanov has been carrying out since the very beginning of his artistic career. At first all symphonic works by P. Tchaikovsky were recorded, the anthology was concluded with the recording of all works of the same genre by A. Glazunov. Ardent promoter of Russian and Soviet music Evgeni Svetlanov performed "a creative deed", the USSR Symphony Orchestra being his true ally. Evgeni Svetlanov has been the orchestra's chief conductor and artistic director since 1965.
The first programme work by Alexander Glazunov was a symphonic poem "Stenka Razin" written in 1885.
"Lyrical Poem" composed in 1884 and dedicated to N. Shcherbachyov was the first work the composer conducted on stage. A. Glazunov was inspired to write "Finnish Fantasia" (1909) by the nature of Finland with its sombre beauty and gloomy grandeur. Mazurka in G major was composed in 1888. Theme with Variations for Strings in G minor, Op. 98 is the author's arrangement (1917) of the variations for strings quintet created already in 1895.
After a busy couple of years of touring, remixing and releasing singles and EPs with Brainfeeder, All City, Magical Properties (the Daedelus home-imprint), Alpha Pup, Warp and Stones Throw, Alfred Darlington aka Daedelus returns with his new full length album on Ninja Tune, 'Bespoke', a title summing up the unique and eccentric vision of a musical artist as obsessed with the clothing of the Victorian era as he is with the music of the future.
