Finland's premier melodic hard rockers Human Temple are back! Their 2004 debut "Insomnia" received rave reviews, and the fans have been eagerly awaiting a follow-up. Now the wait is over, so be prepared for a "Murder Of Crows". The foundation of the Temple was laid way back in the late eighties, when vocalist Janne Hurme and drummer Petri Lehto formed their first band. The guys were highly impressed by Kiss, Dokken, Crüe and the likes, so the style of the music just had to be hard rock, yet always with a keen ear for a good melody.
A Dramatic Turn of Events is an album born from transition, crafted with studied persistence and possessed by newfound freedom and free-flowing invigoration. The album strikes the perfect balance between Dream Theater's intimate history with all that is heavy, progressive and melodic with each element fully realized.
This is Alice's nightmare 35 years later and now that nightmare is exposed! Alice Cooper's widely anticipated new album, Welcome 2 My Nightmare picks up where Welcome To My Nightmare left off, with Alice trapped in his own warped mind. There is an array of collaborators on the new album, including original Alice Cooper members Denis Dunaway, Michael Bruce and Neal Smith reunited on 3 tracks. Musically, the album ranges far and wide, from trashing disco to garage punk, pop balladry to a rocking number, very much in the spirit of the Rolling Stones. Glimpses of themes from the original album are intertwined throughout, each track representing a different aspect of Alice's nightmare.
Billie-Eve is Ayo’s third studio album. This one sounds like pages from a young woman’s deeply intimate diary; someone who has strong beliefs and is being tested by a trough of hard-ass unproductive relationships and social conditions. She manages to moan about heart hurt without sounding maudlin or pitiful, perhaps because in the midst of a sea of troubles she secures islands of defiance and resistance.
People who go "incognito" usually have something to hide. That certainly cant be said of Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick and his exciting band. Firstly, Incognito is much too good to hide itself away. Secondly, this creative workshop, which young, enthusiastic music freaks have been passing through for many years, has left a distinct impression on the scene and not only in its home country, the UK. This live performance from Ohne Filter includes Good Love, One Hundred And Rising, Everybody, Spellbound And Speechless, Don't You Worry 'bout A Thing, Harvest For The World, Colibri, Still A Friend Of Mine, Always There.
Formerly of the aggressive feminist punk outfit Silverfish, Leslie Rankine renamed herself Ruby in 1995 and changed her musical tactics. Instead of hard-edged post-punk, Ruby's music is a dark, eerie fusion of trip-hop and industrial, with quietly menacing beats and droning synths.
One of Basie's final albums, the very appealing title cut seems to sum up his career, a lightly swinging groove with a strong melody. Two small-group performances with guest Joe Pass on guitar and the tenor of Kenny Hing add variety to a particularly strong set. ~ AllMusic
Trumpeter Kenny Dorham was one of the most underrated talents of the bop and hard bop eras. Although he did not hit high note or influence a lot of players, Dorham's appealing sound and consistently creative ideas should have made him a star in the jazz world instead of just a journeyman. ~ AllMusic
