Kicking & Screaming presents the debut of the talents of young virtuosic guitarist Nick Sterling and the drum pro Bobby Jarzombek (Halford, Riot, Iced Earth), alongside Bach’s inimitable, incomparable vocals. The result is a high-energy, hard rock album along the lines of his earlier work, but the songs, performances and sound quality are all heavy, interesting and completely rock n' roll.

Songbird is a compilation album of songs by the late American singer Eva Cassidy, released in 1998, two years after her death in 1996. Five tracks ("Wade in the Water", "Wayfaring Stranger", "Songbird", "Time is a Healer" and "I Know You by Heart") are from Cassidy's album, Eva by Heart. Four tracks ("Fields Of Gold", "Autumn Leaves", "People Get Ready" and "Oh Had I a Golden Thread") are from her album, Live at Blues Alley. The remaining track, "Over the Rainbow", is from the album The Other Side. The compilation album was certified Gold by the CRIA (50,000 units) in 2003. It was certified Gold by the RIAA in 2001 and Platinum in 2008 for shipments in excess of one million copies.

Replacing the previous records Cookin' at the Plugged Nickel and Live at the Plugged Nickel, Highlights from the Plugged Nickel collects a handful of tracks from the mammoth eight-CD set The Complete Live at the Plugged Nickel 1965. Two of the tracks on Highlights are songs that were issued in their complete versions on the box, but that isn't what makes the album preferable to Cookin' and Live. On Highlights, the fidelity is stunning and the selection is first-rate – the disc flows like one of the original concerts captured on the box. For listeners who don't want to invest in the box, Highlights is a worthwhile purchase.

When GRP dropped John Patitucci in 1996, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The bassist found a supportive new home in Concord Jazz, where his creativity was encouraged and he was able to take his share of chances. Just as 1998's cerebral Now was a departure from 1996's introspective, deeply personal One More Angel, Imprint finds Patitucci surprising his followers once again by emphasizing Latin elements. Employing drummer Jack DeJohnette and saxman Chris Potter, as well as Latino improvisers, pianist Danilo Perez and drummer/percussionist Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez, Imprint is the most Latin-minded album that he recorded in the 1990s.

Innuendos and rumours were the only indication that Elastica was still a band during much of the late '90s, until 6 Track EP suddenly materialized in late August 1999. It was released to commemorate the band's comeback festival concerts, but designed not to draw too much attention to itself – as a six-track EP, it was ineligible for the singles and album charts, thereby removing any commercial expectations placed upon the band.

Sugar's Beaster is actually outtakes from their previous dynamite album, Copper Blue. It comes off as some kind of deranged, ugly sister of that sparking album, a yin to Copper's yang, a violent, angry, and seething wall of aggression with (this time) little concession to Bob Mould's pop prowess.

With this new 2011 remaster that Capitol has released painstakingly done by James Guthrie and Joel Plante (it rivals the 1992 mastering that Doug Sax did for the Shine On box set), Animals today sounds fresh and competent unlike most albums that came out in 1977…

If you ever saw John Denver in concert, this will recreate the thrill of that experience. The audio quality is absolutely amazing, and his voice soars in these historic concerts. The words of his songs have a special meaning and power when you think of them being sung to an audience of people who were not free, like the words to "I Want to Live." And there are some works that aren't easy to find, like "Bells of Rhymney," "The Gold and Beyond," and "Peace Poem."…
