The music of Samuil Evgenievitch Feinberg is hypnotic in the extreme, most obviously close to Scriabin in mystical mode. All credit to BIS (who already are doing sterling work for the composer Nikos Skalkottas) for releasing this magnificent disc, with superbly detailed annotations by Christophe Sirodeau, one of the two pianists featured on the disc, and a composer himself. Both Sirodeau and Samaltanos contributed to the Skalkottas/Feinberg concerts held in Paris in 1999.

This recording is remarkable in that while Abbado, and the wonderful London Symphony Orchestra's players, are playing mostly atonal music that can seem downright strange, dissonant, and strident, especially to ears that are not used to Berg, they have no trouble conveying the beauty, lusciousness, and excitement of much of this music. This is particularly true in the beginning and end of the "Lulu Suite," the final movement ("Marsch") of Berg's "Three Pieces for Orchestra," and the final selection of the five "Altenberg" lieder.

Lyrics for “Tragedy Has Spoken” have been written by Pär Johansson (Satariel, Torchbearer, The Few Against Many) and band’s singer Christian Älvestam (also in Solution.45, Torchbearer), and address the diversity of tragedies. Some of which have taken the guise of accidents or natural disasters, while others were carried out with human hands and intent. Behind all this there is to find an imaginary architect, a fictive entity – something powerful, aware, far above the manmade concepts of good or evil: the nature of tragedy itself.

New album from Bulgaria's Shrine. Somnia is a complex audio metaphor that can be interpreted as an aural equivalent of a "low level" lucid dreamstate - a dream in which the dreamer is not fully aware he is dreaming but is still having the ability to control the dream. Based on processing of multiple sound sources ranging from audio synthesis, acoustic instruments and field recordings, the album explores several imaginary realities immersing you into a lucid-like experience through sound. Almost an hour long, it contains 8 thematically independent compositions representing an extended blend of ambient, acoustic music and nature sounds.

On this album the great master of flamenco guitar Riqueni Rafael (Sevilla, 1962) has put aside his creative vein to restore so bright touch of teachers as they were Sabicas, Niño Ricardo and Esteban Sanlúcar. From the' guajiras' of Sabicas to 'Mantilla de feria' of Sanlúcar, through 'granaína' of Niño Ricardo, Riqueni makes a daring display of technical ability and feeling. And mention should be the theme of 'Estrella Amargura', with the singing of Enrique Morente, who shocked to the audience the day it was introduced at the Biennale 1994 in Seville. The recording took place in only four evenings, live, boasting a prodigious sensitivity to record the torrent of harmonies and rhythms. Really flamenco guitar in the hands of Riqueni creates a truly classic Spanish music. Album to collect.

Classic Delta Blues collects 12 cuts Big Joe Williams cut in 1964. For these recordings, he played a standard six-string guitars instead of hauling out his custom nine-string and the effects are pleasant, but not revelatory.–by Thom Owens

A lot of very good blues from a couple of masters, Buddy Guy and Junior Wells, caught live in a small club. George "Buddy" Guy (born July 30, 1936) is an American blues guitarist and singer. Known as an inspiration to Jimi Hendrix, Angus Young, Eric Clapton, Ace Frehley, Jimmy Page, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and many other guitarists, Guy is considered an important exponent of Chicago blues. He is the father of female rapper Shawnna and also has a son, Michael, known as hip-hop/rap producer IceDrake. He is the older brother of late blues guitarist Phil Guy.

Long awaited concert special documenting the February 21 and 22, 2011 shows from Lady Gaga's The Monster Ball Tour. Filmed at Madison Square Garden in Gaga's hometown of New York City, the two-hour special was produced by HBO and first broadcast on the channel on May 7, 2011, a day after Gaga's last date of The Monster Ball Tour. It features concert footage as well as pre-concert and backstage content. The special received positive reviews; critics praised Gaga's performance. They also noted similarities to Madonna's 1991 documentary Truth or Dare. The special is was nominated for five Emmy awards.
