Anyone not hip to the diverse genre sounds coming out of Higher Octave these days can find the perfect sampler in 3rd Force's vibe-intensive Force Field. While the electronic keyboard trio of William Aura, Craig Dobbin, and Alain Eskinasi provides thick, acid jazzy grooves that range from dreamy and laid back ("7th Heaven") to shuffling hip-hop, trip-hop, and aggressive blues, some of the label's biggest names have a ball strutting their own stuff as the lead melodies and harmonies.

The Hip Abduction is an afro-pop/ indie-rock band hailing from St. Petersburg, FL. The sextet places heavy emphasis on African stringed instruments (kora, ngoni) mixed with dub-reggae bass lines and funky afro-beat percussion making their high-energy performances stand out on festival lineups nationwide. The band will be touring extensively including performances at key festivals Shaky Knees and Bonnaroo.

Tommy Denander – surely the busiest man in melodic rock – is back with his third Radioactive release and his third full album release of 2005, following his production and musical work on the Philip Bardowell and Sha-Boom albums. As is the case with all Tommy's work, Taken features that very distinct production sound and the expected mixed of guitar chops and AOR keyboards.

Named after a small, Hungarian-made motor scooter, Solex is the project of Amsterdam-based record-shop owner and songwriter Elisabeth Esselink. Formerly a member of Dutch indie pop group Sonetic Vet, Esselink wanted to express her musical ideas more completely; after purchasing an 8-track recorder and a vintage sampler, Esselink began recording songs on her own. Combing the racks of her own store for kitschy records, Esselink took snippets of old records to make new ones, creating her own style of lo-fi techno-pop. Solex's debut, Solex vs. the Hitmeister, came out on Matador in 1998; Pick Up followed a year later. Low Kick and Hard Bop arrived in 2001, and three years later, Solex resurfaced with The Laughing Stock of Indie Rock on Arena Rock Recording Co. Early in 2005, In the Fishtank arrived.

Too Slow to Disco Volumes 1 and 2 were both rightly acclaimed as Best Compilation of the Year by Rough Trade records and this sideproject brings together another kick-ass roster of lost pop gems.

The Pop/R&B and Jazz musician's career is fast becoming one to watch. Hailing from South Carolina, Marcus Anderson is currently performing to audiences all over the world as one of Prince's saxophonists in New Power Generation. As part of New Power Generation, Anderson has played and been showcased in such iconic festivals such as the Essence Music Festival, Monteux Jazz Festival and the Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival.

The Finnish power metal act presents it's new album “Apocalypse Again” on 01st of April. It is not only the return of the band after almost six years, “Apocalypse Again” sees Pasi Rantanen re-unite with THUNDERSTONE. The band’s original vocalist, who left after 2007’s “Evolution 4.0”, has been an integral part of THUNDERSTONE’s characteristic sound ever since and was sorely missed after his departure back then. “Apocalypse Again” is melodic metal perfection. From the speedy opening track “Veterans Of The Apocalypse”, across the catchy single “The Path” with its uplifting chorus, to the epic completion with “Barren Land” - it clearly shows that THUNDERSTONE are one of the finest offerings in the current scene and how much Rantanen was missing. On April 1, Finnish pagan metal act MOONSORROW will release its seventh studio album, "Jumalten Aika" — which means "The Age Of Gods" in English — via Century Media."There are a lot more folk music influences present in 'Jumalten Aika' than earlier", comments MOONSORROW's Henri Sorvali (guitar, keyboards and vocals). "This time around, they are more deeply integrated to the overall sound."

On 30 November 2010, Steve Hackett and band returned to the Shepherds Bush Empire to resounding applause after many stops abroad with the "Around the World in Eighty Trains" tour. Over a decade ago, singer-songwriter Philip Price scrawled the name “Winterpills” on the wall of The Bay State Hotel, a now-dead but fabled Northampton, Massachusetts watering hole and music venue. Initially, it was going to be the name for a dreamt-of electronica project, but, somewhere along the line, it blossomed into a critically acclaimed indie band with a deep catalog of elegant, dark chamber pop. Now, the quintet gives us its seventh album, a provocative entry in its catalog, Love Songs (Signature Sounds), out March 18th. Recorded and co-produced with Justin Pizzoferrato (Dinosaur Jr., The Pixies, Lou Barlow, Speedy Ortiz), the album showcases an invigorated and raw Winterpills. This new release marks ten years as a band. To commemorate this career milestone, Winterpills will also reissue its self-titled debut on vinyl. Together, these releases bookend a freewheeling psych-folk-rock continuum.
