    This is a very beautiful disc of Tudor church music and a very welcome addition to the slowly growing number of recordings of White's music. He lived from about 1530 to 1574 and so saw the huge religious upheavals of the time but remained a Catholic and continued to set Latin texts, some of which are presented here.

    Shambolic - not a word often used to describe musicians, their recordings or their careers but in the case of Rosco Gordon it seems to fit. Certainly his piano stylings are often referred to as shambolic, however his looping piano style and his ability to place an accent on the offbeat helped to form the foundation of bluebeat and ska in Jamaica. Presented here are the A & B sides of every release he made up to 1961, major hits include "Booted", "No More Doggin'", "Saddle The Cow" plus great tracks such as "Just A Little Bit". This is the first time his exciting recordings have been presented in this way. An undeniably original talent whose contributions to the development of popular music cannot underestimated and this collection fully demonstrates that.

    This CD box set, released seventy years after World War II ended, contains music composed by those who were persecuted during that same war; any performance of these works was strictly forbidden at the time. Nineteen Dutch composers were deported to concentration camps of which only six survived the atrocities. Others went into hiding or they survived using fake identities. Almost all saw their musical career end inopportunely.

    Eric Clapton earned a reputation as a blues guitarist early in his career, and while he frequently returned to the blues – usually recording at least one blues tune per album – he never recorded a full-fledged blues album until 1994's From the Cradle. It became one of the most popular records of his career. Not long afterward, MCA assembled a collection of Jimi Hendrix's blues recordings, and that compilation also proved quite successful. Those two releases provided the blueprint for Blues, Polygram's double-disc collection of blues highlights from Clapton's RSO recordings of the '70s.
