    In 1986, the English of Onslaught started an ultimate assault against all wimps and posers with their "The Force" titled second record. The songs had been more matured than on the debut, but the songs didn't lose any brutality, heaviness or speed. On the contrary, songs like the rhythmic opener "Let There Be Death", the midtempo hammer "Metal Forces" or the speed massacre "Thrash Till the Death" with its great break are the best of 80's extreme Metal.

Continuing the bands tradition of inviting world-class keyboard players to play solos, “Sacrifice” features Lasse Finbråten of Circus Maximus adding his distinctive style to the recordings.

    Six years after their debut, Canadian pop duo Ash Koley return with Elements, their sophomore LP for the Nettwerk label. The partnership of Winnipeg-based singer Ash Koley and multi-instrumentalist Phil Deschambault enjoyed their first bit of mainstream renown when their buoyant 2010 single, "Don't Let Your Feet Touch the Ground," reached number 50 on the Canadian Hot 100. The breezy, piano-led cabaret pop of their debut, Inventions, led to an even breezier 2012 companion album called Acoustic Inventions. With Elements, they've made a deliberate attempt to to alter their creative formula, heading to Los Angeles for a series of co-writing sessions and some added production/songwriting efforts from Justin Gray (Ryan Cabrera, Mariah Carey) and Brian West (Rachel Platten, Maroon 5). While not a total makeover, the 11 tracks on Elements represent a distinct shift toward more contemporary synth pop with a surprising dash of hip-hop thrown in.

    Echoes is a double-CD collection of some of Pink Floyd's best songs. It's also a fascinating document of the band's history. They began life as Syd Barrett's phantasmagoric plaything before clasping the wings of Icarus and ascending toward the sun on an epic space-rock odyssey, eventually turning left once they reached the dark side of the moon and burning up on reentry, crash-landing on every earthlings' home hi-fi. And it's all here 30 years of the Floyd's awesome back catalog trimmed down to two handsome CDs. It's worth remembering that, despite a fondness for pyrotechnics, Pink Floyd were never a prog-rock band.

    Released 26 six years after their split, this 2000 compilation gathers the two studio albums recorded by German-based Brooklyn progressive jazz-rock band Sweet Smoke onto one disc. Produced by Rosie Schmitz and Winifred Ebert, 1970 debut Just a Poke is an experimental affair, featuring just two 16-minute epic tracks, "Baby Night," which includes a cover of the Doors' "The Soft Parade" and "Silly Sally," which contains a five-minute drum solo.
