    Silk brings in a lot of familiar mega-talent on this one, including fellow Englishman and smooth jazz guitar icon Peter White, the always dapper and super-cool guitarist Nick Colionne, songstress Katie Leone, trumpet giant Rick Braun, the lovely flutist Althea Rene, and sax virtuosos Steve Cole and Phil Denny. As usual, Silk dazzles with his trademark fluid style of blowing up either piano or keys. His love of this music simply dances from his fingertips and into one’s heart, which is why he remains so well regarded among jazzers.

    Three years after the release of My Story, his lone album for Blue Note, Aaron Neville relaunched the Tell It label (through Kobalt) with the very different Apache. In a way, it's among his freshest and yet also one of his oldest-sounding solo albums. Surprisingly, the compositions are strictly originals, all written by Neville with producer and multi-instrumentalist Eric Krasno (Soulive, Lettuce) and Dave Gutter (Rustic Overtones). Featuring a thoroughly organic sound rooted in late-'60s/early-'70s R&B, like something that would have come out around the same time as the deep classic "Hercules," it's retro-cast from front to back, and Neville himself is frequently nostalgic. The songs are dealt out in a variety of modes, however, while the lyrical themes are universal and timeless in some cases, as on "Fragile World," unfortunately so.

    Originally released in 2000, Transition was the second Street Talk release. It’s an album that really defines the Street Talk sound, and one that showcases just how versatile a singer Goran Edman really is. For a Metal vocalist, he sounds like he was born to sing straight-up AOR. Backed by sublime melodies and impeccable production, Edman really shines here. Transition is pretty light on the rock elements though, so be prepared for lots of sappy love songs. MelodicRock’s reissue of Transition features new cover artwork, the Japanese bonus track “I’ll Always Remember You” and six additional bonus demo tracks. The demos aren’t exactly essential, but it’s really nice having the Japanese bonus track.

    Vybz is undoubtedly Savant's most mellow, thought-provoking album to date. Making a departure from the heavy dubstep & complextro styles, this album will 'vex' fans who expected an EDM album, and delight those who adore Savant's earlier work style from 2008-2011. The only true hard-hitters on the album are 'Boss', 'Troll' and of course 'Alive', a tune with eyes set on destroying the dance floor. Mind you, the album is full of the 8bit synths and soothing melodies we all know and love Savant for. Reminiscent of the playful and unpredictable nature of 2015's Invasion, 'Vybz' sounds as if it may be as its chill flip side. The production is top notch, as Savant delves further into perfecting his sound design and experimenting with advanced reverb & panning techniques. Ideal for those cold days by the fire, Vybz is a record that really has quite a deep meaning to it, and it's certainly a journey of an album that grows on you the more you listen to it. A really nice change in Savant's discography, Vybz brings all new diversity to the plate that makes for a record that is relaxing yet uplifting.

    The act known as Waldeck is the work of one Klaus Waldeck, a producer for Vienna's Spray Records, home to work by Kruder & Dorfmeister and Count Basic. Waldeck's work is similar earthy downtempo, though many of his productions reflect the recruitment of vocalists, similar to Massive Attack. After contributing a track to the Spray compilation The Eclectic Sound of Vienna, Waldeck released his debut full-length Balance of the Force in 1999. Along with an American distribution deal through E-Magine, an accompanying remix album was released in the United States as well. Who Is Waldeck, his second LP, was released in fall 2000. His electronic daydream continued with The Night Garden issued in spring 2001 and The Night Garden Reflowered in 2007.
