    + Spin Angels Issues #1-2

is the latest book to be published by Marvel Comics state-side through their partnership with Soleil. Each issue in the mini-series, like the other Soleil/Marvel offerings, is a super-sized 48 pages in length. This book is charged with political intrigue, conspiracy theories and black-op assignments all with the backdrop of the Catholic Church a la Da Vinci Code. The protagonists of the book are a group of investigators that work for the Black Office of the Vatican. Action-packed, complete with great set-up and interesting goings-on. The pacing and suspense level are pretty much top-notch thanks to the clear pencils of Chan, with his lush detailed environments and clear manga influence. Spin Angels is another example of high-quality genre work turned out by European creators. It is fortunate Marvel has this partnership with Soleil and is publishing it in English in four parts, not three as previously solicited.

are three series featuring an eponymous group of teenaged mutant superheroes-in-training. All three, two of which are now discontinued, are spin-offs of the popular X-Men franchise published by Marvel Comics. The first team of "New Mutants" was created by Chris Claremont (long-time writer of Uncanny X-Men) and artist Bob McLeod; they first appeared in 1982's and were subsequently featured in their own title from 1983 until 1991, at which point they were reinvented as X-Force. Like its parent title, The New Mutants highlighted interpersonal and group conflict as well as action and adventure, and featured a large, ensemble cast. The third (hence the tag Vol. 3) and ongoing New Mutants series, written by Zeb Wells and reuniting most of the original team, launched in May 2009. The current New Mutants are: Cannonball, Dani Moonstar, Karma, Sunspot, Magma and Magik.

is an American comic book limited series published by DC Comics in 2009 and 2010, forming the basis of a crossover event between several DC publications introduced in issue #0 released on Free Comic book Day. Written by Geoff Johns and pencilled by Ivan Reis, Blackest Night follows and as the third part of a trilogy throughout the Green Lantern comics. The storyline was first revealed at the conclusion of Sinestro Corps War. Issue #0 consists of a 12-page story that’s a lead-in to the DC Universe through Hal Jordan (Green Lantern) and Barry Allen (Flash). The second half of the issue is by artist Doug Mahnke and Johns, and is a guide to the different organizations that will play into the “Blackest Night” storyline. Blackest Night involves a personified force of death resurrecting deceased superheroes and seeking to eliminate all life and emotion from the universe. Geoff Johns has identified the series' central theme as emotion. The crossover will be published for eight months via a limited series, as well as in both the Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps comic titles and for various other limited series and tie-ins.
