is a fictional Marvel Comics superhero team, one of several spin-offs of the popular X-Men franchise. Conceived by writer/illustrator Rob Liefeld, the team was formed in The (April 1991) and soon afterwards was featured in its own series. The group was a new incarnation of the 1980s team, the New Mutants. Led by the mutant Cable, X-Force was more militant and aggressive than the X-Men. The title was revamped in in 2001 with a new cast in the form of a group of self-interested young mutants who were gathered together by a corporation to become media stars and used the name X-Force. X-Force (vol. 1) was cancelled with issue #129 and relaunched as , which featured the later incarnation of the team. After X-Statix was cancelled with #26, Marvel reunited the original X-Force team for a six-issue 2004 miniseries. In 2007-2008, during the Messiah CompleX crossover, a new version of X-Force was formed that had Wolverine leading a more militaristic black ops branch of the X-Men, forming the basis for a new X-Force (Vol. 3) series starting February 2008 by writers Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost, plus Clayton Crain as the artist.

are three series featuring an eponymous group of teenaged mutant superheroes-in-training. All three, two of which are now discontinued, are spin-offs of the popular X-Men franchise published by Marvel Comics. The first team of "New Mutants" was created by Chris Claremont (long-time writer of ) and artist Bob McLeod; they first appeared in 1982's and were subsequently featured in their own title from 1983 until 1991, at which point they were reinvented as . Like its parent title, The New Mutants highlighted interpersonal and group conflict as well as action and adventure, and featured a large, ensemble cast. The third (hence the tag Vol. 3) and ongoing New Mutants series, written by Zeb Wells and reuniting most of the original team, launched in May 2009. The current New Mutants are: Cannonball, Dani Moonstar, Karma, Sunspot, Magma and Magik. Issue #7 is the second part of the ongoing three-part story arc that started in issue #16.

is an American comic book series published by DC Comics under their Vertigo imprint. The stories are fictional but set in and around historical events during the Viking Age. Northlanders is written by Brian Wood, illustrated by various artists on a per storyline basis with painted cover art by Massimo Carnevale. The first issue of the series was published on December 5, 2007. Wood has said that the series will be divided into standalone eight issue story arcs separated by two-issue arcs. Northlanders does not have a true main character; the cast and setting change with each story arc. Issue #22 is the second in the eight-issue story arc entitled “The Plague Widow.” After a full four issues of two-issue arcs, the series is back to its original format of longer stories placed squarely in the Viking lore. With each story arc, "Northlanders" follows a different character in a tenth- or eleventh-century setting where Vikings have made their mark; sometimes the protagonist is a Viking, as in the first arc, "Sven," while in others the heroes are fighting desperately to repel the Norse invaders. This series may perhaps be one of the best monthly comic books, along with Robert Kirkman's .

is the name of a comic book series starring Spider-Man published by Marvel Comics for 129 issues between 1985 and 1995. It replaced as the third major Spider-Man title of the time. After #129 in October 1995, the title was renamed and started again at #1. After four issues of Web of Scarlet Spider, the series was cancelled to make way for the new title. In October 14, 2009, Web of Spider-Man relaunched with issue one having a Kaine centered story written by J.M. DeMatteis, as well as a Spider-Girl story by Tom DeFalco with art by Ron Frenz and still another bonus story. Issue #2 ties in with the new storyline "The Gauntlet" with the origin of Electro. And just like Issue #1, almost a giant issue what with the backup Spider-Girl story.

is a comic book miniseries that is the result of a partnerwhip between Devil's Due Publishing and French comic house Humanoids, the original publisher. In it French screenwriter Fabien Nury, and American artists John Cassaday and Laura Martin, team up to bring audiences an elaborate tale set in the latter days of World War II about a young girl whose super power is the center of a secret experiment. I Am Legion presents an unconventional vampire tale about the Nazi’s race to control the powers of 10-year-old vamp called Ana, while Allied forces scramble to uncover how their own ranks have been infiltrated by Hitler’s elite. This series continues and completes the original series published by DC Comics as a graphic novel in 2004, in which John Cassaday won a 2005 Eisner Award for Best Penciller/Inker for his work on this title (, Aug 2004). Excellent all throughout.

For the first several pages you'll think this prequel comic book doesn't feel like a Die Hard story, at least the one that's so familiar--if you've been following the Hollywood releases. Then of course you'll realize that this is still the raw, fresh John McClane as a beat cop and that this is how he was supposed to have started, and not yet the hard, wise-cracking, street-smart and razor-sharp cop of the live action films. And another realization sinks in: writer Howard Chaykin creates well-written believable 70's characters, helped no doubt by Stephen Thompson's real depiction of life in New York in 1976.

The companion series to , which is the continuation of the faithful, methodical yet thoroughly engrossing adaptation of the first novel of Orson Scott Card's critically-acclaimed and multiple-award-winning Ender's Game series of books. Upon the close of Battle School, Ender Wiggins has been promoted to Command School, as the leader of Dragon Army. And assigned under him is Bean, the boy who may be as smart, if not smarter, than Ender himself. This is Command School as told from the viewpoint of Bean.

When they all wake up, however, the aftermath of the event is powerfully evident and downright strange. As a few people try to make sense of what is going on in their county, a girl is being prepared to combat a supernatural threat heading their way... Stephen King on speed giving a small backwoods town the works. Breakneck pace yet hair-standing creepy. Oh, and great, great artwork.

Crossover Theme: The Fall of the Mutants is not so much a crossover in the classical sense, but the culmination of a storyline in each of the three titles, causing a change in status quo for each of the books.

"Maximum Security" is a comic book story line and company-wide crossover that ran through a three-issue, self-titled limited series and individual issues of the other titles published by Marvel Comics with a cover date of either December 2000 or January 2001. In it, a multitude of alien civilizations that have previously interacted with Earth and faced negative consequences join forces to prevent humans from interfering further with galactic affairs. To accomplish this, they designate Earth as a penal colony and transfer their worst and most dangerous prisoners there.
