, aka Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock, sometimes spelled as Elisabeth, is a Marvel Comics superheroine, most notably part of the superhero team the X-Men. Created by writer Chris Claremont and artist Herb Trimpe, she first appeared in the UK comic book (Dec. 1976), by the Marvel imprint Marvel UK. She was initially a supporting character in the adventures of her fraternal twin brother, Captain Britain, briefly substituting for him in the role. Later, she became the mutant superheroine Psylocke. Originally presented as a telepath, the character was eventually written as unexplainedly possessing telekinesis. Psylocke later possesses both abilities. This four-issue miniseries is a soul-searching journey of sorts for one of the X-Men's more interesting members. A very strong first issue, with a jumping companion story on Cable and the Messiah child Hope.

is a comic book created by Michael Turner and originally published by Top Cow Productions. It debuted in 1998 and was Michael Turner's first creator-owned comic book series. Fathom has received honors and has claimed the "Number one selling comic book of the Year". Fathom is currently published by Turner's own company, Aspen MLT. In Volume 3 the focus is divided between the returning Killian (thought dead in volume 2), his new found allegiance with his abandoned daughter Kiani, and the rise of the Blue's ancestor race The Black.

is an eight-issue miniseries commissioned as a pseudo-sequel of sorts to Avengers/Invaders for Marvel Comics for its 70th anniversary. It is a thoughtful and intimate look at a classic Marvel character, the original World War II Torch. Writer Mike Carey fleshes his characters with definition and care, with detailed artwork by Patrick Berkenkotter, drawing the title character in the Golden Age style. The third issue picks up the pace even more as Carey through the Thinker's dialogue conjures a hard science fiction explanation and basis for the nature of the flames of the original Torch and his sidekick Toro in stark contrast to the old-style artwork. This is what happens when you pair a good writer with a good artist and give them the freedom to handle their material. Sparks fly and flames burn bright.

The story concerns a minister, the Reverend William Stryker, stirring up religious anti-mutant fervor and kidnapping Professor X in an attempt to eradicate all mutants. It is one of the most clear-cut examples of X-Men comics using mutant relations as a metaphor for race relations. Another notable feature is that the heroes do not fight any costumed super-villains in the story; although Magneto was featured in the Graphic Novel, he is not the X-Men's foe in this story, but rather forms an alliance with them against William Stryker.
